You should get your eyes checked by an opthalamologist. Sounds possibly like an optical nerve spasm or you could be experiencing small tears in you retina. Sometimes these never occur again or minimally but you need to get it checked out.

Sometimes it is just from press against your eyeballs. Did you lay on your face while sleeping?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62021

Caused by fluids leaking through a tear in the retina probably. Definitely get checked. Only 1 out 10 end up with a detached retina but you can't take that chance.

LOL....yeah, let an eye doctor inject some air bubbles or oil into your eye to "save" your detached retina.

Re: Seeing bright snowflakes, indoors .....
Any opinions to a strange thing that happened this morning.

Woke up late.
Enjoyed a cup of coffee and read my newspaper.

Suddenly i saw dancing *snow flakes* around me.
Very shiny and bright little things, falling like snow around me.
Not a thick *snow storm*, about 20 *bright dots* falling like snow (very slowly)

I closed my eyes, thinking of *maybe something in my eyes* for about 2 seconds.

I opened my eyes.
They were still there.

I watched for about 5 seconds, wondering if i´m getting mentally ill ?
I closed my eyes for another 2 seconds.

After that the snowflakes slowly dimished in my vision.

The whole thing took about 15 seconds.

*Rofl*
It looked like some computer adventure where your character casts a health spell and little sparkles fall around your avatar....

It was in the morning, i had slept good and i don´t do drugs or alcohol....

Opinions ??

I think your second sentence may hold a clue; "woke up late", better late than never eh? Many people are experiencing similar events in their lives, be they physical, spiritual or intellectual changes which give pause to consider life and reality in new ways.
I thought I'd beat the inevitibility of death to death just a little bit.

Re: Seeing bright snowflakes, indoors .....
I see the same things ever since I bashed my head into my friend Tom's head in a car accident. No other damage occured to me at that time, I had no concussion.

That was about 10 years ago. I have perfect vision with no deterioration, but I still catch these things from time to time if I stand up too quickly or something along those lines. Not every time either.

I agree with some of the above that it's a blood pressure thing along with the classic "seeing stars" label.

If it's enlightenment, I want my money back ;)

They/it whatever looked more like the first picture but they had all the same size and they don´t looked like *dust*.
They were sparkling and bright white/blue.

I also, see shadows and a peculiar wavelike disturbtion in my peripheral vision. It looks alot like the special-effect they use in sci-fi movies..especially that effect that Schwartzenegger used in that Predator movie where they see something like water ripples in the air infront of them when the alien runs through the jungle, etc.
 Quoting:

I've had this a few times too. I see a prism of colours, has jagged edges, in waves, and as if everything is liquifying. It occurred in the morning, after waking up.

I've also seen sparks, and showers of lights. Not the same as stars. I was told by an Opthomologist I had a torn retina. he called it a lattice. But I also saw an optician, who could not see the tear or retinal damage. So I thought the opthamologist had better equipment and training?

Oddly, and this is the absolute truth.
This Prism liquifying thing scared me into thinking it had become worse, & I worried my retina was detatching. I phoned the Opth's office to make an appointment (he had said to do if it got worse). But get redirected to the town's hospital. I say I am trying to call Dr B & she say's "there is no Doc B" I say there is ! Then she says "well he no longer practices". So I say I don't care, and would like the name of the Doc who took his place at that eye clinic. She then says that clinic is now a pregancny clinic, I say well just please give me a number to ANY opthamologist in the area. She says "there are none". I say this it outrageous ! This is metropolitan Vancouver and there isn't one eye surgeon/specialist???

Missing Time
So now I am having to go to a local, less qualified optician. I got an appmt for a few days later for 2:45 pm. At around 11 am that day, I suddenly felt queezy in my stonache. So I sat down for what seemed about 10 or 15 mins. Suddenly my kids are home from school, and I am wtf are you doing here? Well school was out & it was 2:35, and i'm not dressed, showered, never ate, etc. I couldn't believe it. There is no way I sat there for 3 and half hours. I did not go to sleep, just sat there. I recall nothing but sitting. I had to rush & go to this optician, who of course could not see this retinal thing.

What is odd, is that I knew this woman who answered was lying, preventing me in some way, but I didn't persue trying again, I just followed her instructions to seek an optician.

Incidentally, Doctor B "materialixed" a couple of yrs later when I saw him again. He said he could still see this tear.

This is something different again.

It sounds like a pre-migraine aura.

Does it start in your peripheral vision, and gradually extend around in a circle, moving closer to the centre of your vision as it does so? Lots of migraine sufferers get this effect as a pre-warning.

However, it can also be caused by one's neck (cervical vertebrae) going slightly out - which can happen sometimes when you sleep.

I have also experienced this effect as a response to a particular food additive - one of the Azo dyes I think it was.

Re: Seeing bright snowflakes, indoors .....
there is a difference between the 'sparklies' and the 'snow flakes'.

the 'sparklies' which fly everywhere, and zip around, and seemingly exhibit intelligence are called the 'kalapas'. These are the afterimage left by the indivisible unit (lowest form of subatomic particle) as it manifests material reality. These appear so fast, but are really after images of a 22 trillion times a second occurance. These kalapas are the fundamental expression of material reality. They are also intelligent at the highest/lowest possible levels.

The kalapas also compose humans. So, in meditation, you can meet that layer and learn to control things such as your body, health, material crap around you and other interesting tricks.

The snow flakes are something different. These are a manifestation of the sublime due to a change of state within the perceiver. A nexus occurred, a choice was made, and the new path set out upon. Think of the snow flakes as the welcome aboard confetti

Hello Baldrishi and everyone,

I have all my life experienced Sparklies, and I had tried to get my friends to see them but they cannot.
Anyway, this is the first time that I have even had direction to research this further.
I invite any of you with knowledge to please share, Baldrishi if you have any more information or websites please let us know.
Thank you for your time and efforts of sharing.

Re: Seeing bright snowflakes, indoors .....
Hello. It's been Jan'07 since i wrote about seeing these things. Found this thread again on my favorites that i had tabbed. Anyway, someone asked for us folks who see these things to take pictures. Well, it is a reasonable thing to ask, But these occurences for me atleast...it doesn't happen continuesly all the time or on command, and they are appear and disappear in a split-second. And they are gone. Might not see them for days or weeks again? So, you see it is nearly impossible..there's not even enough time to grab a camera. As i see them they are instantly gone. They are tiny flashes of light. Except for the ones that look like tiny comets..they last slightly longer. They don't hover for a period of time that you have the chance to film them. Hope this helps?

OP, I read thru your thread and was surprised no one had mentioned anything about cutting off of oxygen from the brain. Your "visions" are a classic example of the brain being deprived of oxygen which could be anything from hyperventilating to the possibility of an impending stroke.

I don't think it is anything "magical" but more likely physiological symptoms of something yet undiagnosed that you should seriously have checked out.

Hey OP,
Funny thing i posted a thread 2 years ago asking the same thing... to me the lights reminded me the experience astronauts talk about in space. i still think i can see them if i hold still. i held my hand out when i saw them and noticed that they seem to be attracted to objects, like their path would gradually float toward my hand.. some would go through also... anyway... youre not crazy or broken

ps: next time go outside when you start seeing them if you are not... the frequency of snowflake like lights will be greater in their occurance

I have low blood presssure my whole life. I do not see these snowflakes. So blood pressure is not causing this.

I think baldrishi has the answer. Way too often we are told any unusual phenomena we encounter is medical or that we have a wild imagination. I ask you to think about this, why do you suppose we are told this?
