SmoothDeplorableSailing User ID: 71448021 United States 10/28/2016 10:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear." Marcus Tullius Cicero |

I thought that someone just tried to justify that: Someone who is potentially (or is) under a criminal investigation could still be the US President and then be immediately impeached ,but be pre pardoned by the sitting President who may also be implicated, for a crime(s) that they have yet been proven; but are generally accepted, to have committed? Can you see what just may be wrong in this? REMEMBER! Last Edited by JC- on 10/28/2016 10:53 PM Don't believe everything you see on TV or read on the internet. - Sir Isaac Newton |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73279544 United States 10/28/2016 11:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I need to add an important caveat: it's unclear what Congress will do. They could open a Congressional investigation...I think. If they can and do, Hillary would go into the election subject to an FBI and Congressional investigation. My fear would be she somehow is elected, then impeached...then we get Kaine? Just wondering if we are in a "be careful what you wish for" situation. I assume that's what would happen. But in all honesty, I'd rather him that Hillary. He's a wacko, but he's not a player. Hillary's a criminal with an entire network supporting her. But it's all academic anyway - Trump's going to sweep the board now. Things come full circle. I can remember around 1974 all the philosophy professors gathered around a tiny black and white TV in one the offices intensely watching the Watergate hearing and speculating how long before Nixon resigned. As a 19 year old, I was vaguely interested. Of course I was surrounded by 5,000 beautiful, eligible and horny coeds and also didn't realize life wouldn't get any better than this. |
~Jazzy~ Forum Administrator User ID: 3448973 United States 10/28/2016 11:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A Constitutional Crisis can only occur when the President has been implicated. Am I correct? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61202152 No. It occurs when the separate branches of government disagree on how something is mitigated and there doesn't seem to be any resolution. One or more of the parties has willfully chosen to violate the constitution, thereby leading to the crisis. It's basically a rebellion WITHIN the government itself, rather than by the people. That being said, it can and has led to a rebellion of the people, goober paralysis or collapse. So, gosh, this is a real chess move in timing! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73232900 And the only ones who can take down the pres (other than through military coup) is the SCOTUS. Quoting: ScoutsOUT Clearly to us here on GLP we already had our minds made up with regards to Clinton, is there any indication this will affect those who are already on Clinton's "boat"? You don't usually get polls that quick. The USC poll is usually the first out in the morning, and I bet that will be the first indication we get. Thanks!
