PM Orbán: Hungary will sue Brussels if they don't drop mandatory migrant quotas

Hungary will sue the European Commission and resist mandatory migrant resettlement quotas if Brussels does not take them off the agenda, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said.

PM Orbán said his government would use a recent referendum in Hungary, in which the overwhelming majority of those who voted rejected the EU quotas, to challenge Brussels, Reuters reports today.

Re: PM Orbán: Hungary will sue Brussels if they don't drop mandatory migrant quotas
Earlier this month, prime minister Matteo Renzi issued an ultimatum to rebel countries to pull their weight or pay the price with a drastic funding cut.

He said: "The positive aspects of belonging to the EU must be balanced by the duties that come with membership."

Now the threat has been re-iterated by members of his government, who also have become fed up with Hungary failing to take its fair share while Italy struggles with the hundreds of thousands migrants who are reaching its shores every day.

Here's Hungary's response to the "fed up" Italian government

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said Thursday it was Italy and not Hungary that was breaking EU rules.....

"Renzi has completely misunderstood the situation,"

"Renzi is attacking the countries of central Europe who are respecting common rules while Italy is not meeting its obligations deriving from belonging to the Schengen zone".
