Reading comprehension issues? They CANNOT OCCUPY the territory, but they still CAN invade and try to take the capital . NATO Rapid Reaction Force is 40K strong, not 5+4. Do you even know what you are talking about?

NATO rapid reaction force is something else. It is designed to be deployed as fast as possible againt ANY threat. To go in first.

Nato has been testing its new rapid reaction force for the first time amid growing tensions with Russia.

It was set up after the Nato summit in Wales last year as a response to the crisis in Ukraine.

Well yes thats what it is designed force to counter ANY threats at or inside its borders. Not just Russia.

Well, that's what YOU SAY. NATO says it's specifically against RUSSIA.

Where does it say that? Not on the official page of NATO:

At the Wales Summit in 2014, NATO Allies agreed to enhance the capabilities of the NATO Response Force (NRF) in order to respond to emerging security challenges posed by Russia as well as the risks emanating from the Middle East and North Africa.

like i said not just russia.

Biggest BS ever. Russia has around 50k troops near the baltics.

Lithuanian Armed Forces have 15k
Latvian National Armed Forces have 12k
Estonia Defence Forces have 17K

And other NATO forces will deploy 4000 troops (2017) in the region with 5000 in reserve.

Armed Forces of Belarus have 65k with also 2000 russian troops.

Polish army have 150k troops.

Stupid russian propaganda.

Everything in bold are anti Russia and live in the 50s mentality which the rest of Europe has long grown out of. If these countries want to pick a fight with Russia they're on their own.

Wow, ignorant Netherlands.
Imagine living next to Germany:

which is militant;

which says collapse of Nazi Germany was biggest geopolitical tragedy of XX century;

which is nostalgic of Nazi military power;

which has Nazi symbols all over the country;

which is supporting nationalistic Germanic speakers and friendly neonazi organizations in all neigbouring countries and embraces them acting against their statehoods;

and if some its neighbours worry, its pumps propaganda against them constantly,calling them "Germanophobic";

which meddles in other countries affairs through all means availabe - special agencies, spies, bribes, economic blackmailing, military manoeuvers near borders

etc etc etc

Wow! What an asshole! What risks are "emanating from the Middle East" for NATO? Islamic State? 30-40K Muslims, sponsored by USA, Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia?

That's bullshit and you know it. You shills have no morality!

You don't say! Well, what those NATO troops are doing at Russia's border then? Who started all this? It wasn't Russia. NATO is expanding Eastward since many years.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72943614

NATO has started to increase its troop numbers near the russian border only after the invasion of the crimea.

The Baltic states fear a russian invasion so since they are part of NATO they have asked for troops. And what did they get? 4000 troops with 5000 in reserve to protect the baltics. If that is an invasion force to the russians lolol.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73321082

You forgot to mention a shitload of missiles and accompanying systems that were delivered to Baltic states before those NATO troops arrived.

Oh, wait... you didn't even know those systems were delivered, did you? No wonder. No one's talking about it.

By the way, those few thousand NATO troops there are not an invasion force. Nor are they even meant to be one.

They're first strike force and they're intended to be destroyed in Russian retaliation in the first hour (more like, in the first 15 minutes) of the war... but not before they launch at least 85% of their missile load (a mix of conventional/decoy and nuclear/genuine warheads) on Russian cities.

What I find more interesting in that article is this:

"“Those actions undermine strategic stability and are forcing Russia to take reciprocal defensive measures, including some in the Western theatre,” the [Russian] defense minister said."

There was a time when Russia could've made a credible threat of "responding to" (that is, destroying) a NATO missile base near its border, and it would've got away with it if it made the threat very clear and well in advance. The rest of NATO countries would get the message that Russia was ready to go to war to protect itself and they would balk at the prospect of having their capitols wiped out in nuclear blasts. But not so anymore.

U.S. is already in full control of all NATO command structures in Europe (which is clearly visible from the statement of UK minister of defense) and it's already got its (first strike) missile systems deployed all along Russian western border. The only thing Pentagon is now waiting on is direct order from "president" Trump (a stooge put there by the CIA, which is also following somebody's orders) to commence with major U.S. troops deployment to Europe (at least 100.000 men strong), after which everything will be in place for the actual invasion to begin.

Russia, on the other hand, still has no effective defense from those (already deployed, nuclear) U.S. missile systems, and trying to "respond" to them at this point would only speed up its defeat... unless Russia hit all of them suddenly and simultaneously. But judging by the previous Russian moves, that would be like waiting for a miracle to happen. I wouldn't bet on it. Not yet, anyway. Russians are still not desperate enough, nor smart enough, to recognize what they're looking in the eyes.

The best course of action for Russia would now be to simply buy some time (at least something they are good at) to fix its defense, while keeping a close eye on those missile systems, and either wait for U.S. troops deployment to Europe (a highly unlikely, but clear and definite indication of an imminent strike, days, possibly even hours away), or any indication of increased activity around the missile systems (a weaker, hard-to-catch-on-time, but significant indication of an imminent strike, akin to reaching for a gun) and only then to strike all the targets preemptively and simultaneously.

Either way, Russians should not strike before they solve their problem of defense, one way or another, or at least, until they conclude that their problem is principally unsolvable by any means other than a preemptive strike.

P.S.
On a side note, somebody's been busy lately, broadcasting some information in the likeness of WW II radio broadcasts, that seems to indicate (truly or falsely, I can't decide) that the strike on Russia will begin on November 31st of this year... which would mean that my 3-month estimate was somewhat overly optimistic.

Either way, take this information for what it is - just some unsubstantiated gossip. Until proven otherwise, that is.

what pro-western shills don't want to acknowledge is the agreement between western powers and then soviet union that nato will not expand into russian sphere of influence, namely the whole eastern europe, baltic states and ukraine.

nato chose not to respect the agreement feeling that russia is powerless and can be stomped into oblivion until they stepped on a mine in ukraine, practically on russian doorstep.

that's why russia's the big bad wolf, western media gets propaganda directives directly from european commission.

and, contrary to what the western elites would like us to believe, military experts will tell you that russian military doctrine is a defensive one. the bear has no interest in , say, belgian poodle, if said belgian poodle leaves it at peace and doesn't annoy it by constant yapping.

Yes dear, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia want to invade Russia! Joke of the century. But better get Putin to invade them first to remove the threat! Right?

BTW, Russia has at least 400,000 soldiers in its Western Military District alone! And they are far better equipped than the NATO countries mentioned above.

What u talking about Willis? More than 85% of Russia troops drunk on vodka. Russian government couldn't get a sober military together, if they had 1 year to do it. Most of Russian government active military drunks or drunk while in active military duty. Best thing, Russian military is sleep as they do that better while in an alcoholic stupor.

And how did you come to the conclusion that Russia has no effective defense?

Suddenly Russia's air defense system has vanished?

The mighty S300 and S400 systems, praised in so many other instances, are gone?

Come on.

Surely you also know Moscow has its own ballistic missile defense system too.

US and NATO are building up their offensive capabilities on Western the borders of Russia and its ally Belarus, prompting Moscow to take reciprocal measures, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu told the two countries’ top military brass.
“Those actions undermine strategic stability and are forcing Russia to take reciprocal defensive measures, including some in the Western theatre,” the defense minister said.

NATO “has not abandoned attempts to dictate its will to other countries through economic and political means, as well as by military force,” he said, noting that “an information war is in full swing.”
