Instead of having the insurance, what if you saved all the money you spend on the premiums, and paid the doctor/dentist in cash? Would that work?

Cancer, or Open-heart surgery type things? Those can cost upwards of hundreds of THOUSANDS of dollars. Most of us cannot afford that type of a hit, even if we saved every last disposable penny. How about if you put all those premium bucks into staying super healthy? (best food, best habits and nutrition, best methods to exercise for you) stuff like that. Lose the fear and "what if's". What if's ARE their main mode of propaganda and seeding those thoughts ya know. I have a friend whose family pays 25K/year for health insurance and they can't drop it. Their child was born with health problems and needs care and one of them got cancer and needs follow up care. They are very angry about it all but there is nothing they can do except to keep paying it all. No amount of clean living will help the child who needs meds. There are many people like them out there that are stuck.
