Re: What a nightmare... 900+% increase... Good lord, I am getting sick of this shit...

I call bullshit on this thread.

I agree that obamacare is a nightmare but 900%??

Gimme a break!

So you're saying your insurance is going up 9 times what it was before... per month? Say from $900/month to $8100/month?

College educated huh?

I think I'd ask for my tuition back... that'll help pay your 900% increase!

You're just like the flat earth tards ain't cha?

Shill much?

You don't have any of the actual numbers and you choose to call BS on me? Whatever. My current outbound for insurance WAS just over $110 if you exclude Dental and Vision. As those have remained the same, I am not including those in my calculations.

Insurance costs are rising for me by over 900%. No shit. 900+%. No alternative. Just bend over and take it like a champ!

Honestly, I hope Hitlary tries to steal this shit so we can get this fucking party started in earnest. I am sick and fucking tired of getting screwed over and jerked around by the pricks in charge while they hand my hard earned tax money to the lowest common denominator, all while importing even more low value dredges!

My employer takes very good care of us because they want to keep us. Now, they have hit the limit of what they can absorb in extra costs and we are having to start to pick up the slack.

In this case, the slack is about $960 for me and the family. My total monthly outbound will be just under $1,100/month when all is said and done if I am unable to find a cheaper alternative. That is before dental and vision.

Does that help clear things up a bit?
 Quoting: PhobiaDHS

Well....... I never would have guessed you were only paying 110/month for insurance..... instead of the already outrageous premiums the rest of us were/are paying.

You might have mentioned that in the OP. Not doing so was certainly misleading.

Sorry... for my being mislead by you!

You can usually negotiate services for 1/3 of the cost to the insurance by paying for cash.
 Quoting: ReverendOD

Really? The one time I negotiated with a hospital I had to provide income and asset information at which point they determined what I should be able to pay. It was NOT lower than the insurance companies' rate. If you have the ability to pay, they will squeeze it out of you.

Sad thing is, my company is busting their asses to try to take some of the heat off us too.

Even with all their help and them taking on a larger chunk of the costs, this is the result. Without them stepping up, it would be even higher.

How are we who actually work for a living expected to live? I want to know. It isn't like I am a low level earner. I am educated and have a great job. I still can't make ends meet without some serious corners being cut. Corners that are now affecting how my family lives.

This change in costing will quite literally put me right back into my 20's as far as earnings go.

Damned fools paradise we live in...

Stop working and go on welfare.

When you are on welfare you'll get everything covered, and you wont have to work another day in your life.

Nearly 95% of all people on welfare earn more than $40,000 to $55,000 per year in total combine earnings (when you account for perks, benefits, and tax breaks). Its getting to a point where welfare pays more than actually working.

It is coming to that especially when you consider the deductibles!

The only problem is if you have a very serious illness with a long hospitalization. I have heard of someone being in the hospital for 3 days and it costing 40K. Your insurance premiums are raising because of the high cost of healthcare! When we start addressing that, we will start addressing the problem.

Without insurance companies, hospitals will go under, or, only the super rich will be the only ones who can afford healthcare.

My insurance went up 90%, and I'm just not going to pay. It would be way cheaper for me just to pay the 2.5% penalty. I'm also assuming Trump will win, and this shit will go away anyway.
 Quoting: The Deplorable Floyd Gondolli

Assuming Trump does win the Presidential Election and he becomes our new President there's no guarantees he'll succeed in getting rid of Obamacare. Last I knew there is alot of Obamacare regulation and other crap that's still being slowly uncovered by Congress that seems to prove that Obamacare is literally impossible to repeal in any sort of way.

Meaning literally only those who wrote the Affordable Healthcare Act and who those planned it knows precisely what's in it. Congress is only allowed to get bit by bit more information about what's there in Obamacare. It's written so completely in Legalese that it's taking this fricken long to get maybe half way through the entire 100's of pages that is Obamacare.

Last I knew too, the Affordable Healthcare Act is so monstrous and unfathomably inhumane that even the Congressmen and women who have literally deciphered the Obamacare texts they have thus far are constantly surprised just how much more inhumane and monstrous the Obamacare texts continue to become. That should be a gigantic red flag that even our Congress men and women have come to the conclusion already that Obamacare alone shall destroy our country completely.
 Quoting: darkwolf007

Executive order. He would have to nullify anything covered in the Act.

He would have to have the insurance companies ready at day one to pick up the reins though. Maybe by reinstating coverage that was canceled by Obamacare.
 Quoting: Lily the Utmost Deplorable

I guess? Ever since I found out that not even Congress has the power to repeal Obamacare I've lost all hope for getting rid of it. Obama definitely will defend his Muslim tax easily enough.

As for the reinstating coverage that is cancelled by Obamacare, good luck with that. The best I can tell with Obamacare in it's current state is it's FUBARed considering more and more insurance companies are ditching the Act in droves.

Getting to the point of, AC? Try it does by a large margin here in the States due to Obama's BS so far. The best most Americans can even get anymore is Service Industry type jobs. They're very disposable, abusive, and very manual labor intensive. On top of that they're Minimum Wage jobs too.

Lots of people here on GLP absolutely hate those on Welfare but sadly enough our Government has made getting and keeping a job very difficult, very time consuming, and you're nearly taxed to death. While on the other hand being on Welfare is very much like how you described. You get to do whatever you want to do whenever you want and wherever you want pretty much, and actually can have fun with your life; all using taxpayer money.

I find it ironic that most people with jobs are so completely unhappy, hateful, and possibly jealous of those who are on Welfare because they're able to live life better and relatively stress-free compared to them. This means by the time the people with jobs are so broken down mind, body, and soul by the System they'll get a very tiny and insignificant portion of the money were very nearly taxed to death over back through SSI by the time they've become essentially walking skeletons. By this time, the initial part of the System is finished with you. You're thoroughly broken mind, body, and soul by the System. You're owned, and operated by the System even further as you're forced one way or another to go onto another portion of the System's "help" schemes such as pharmaceutical drugs. Now the other half of the System is now finalizing it's complete and utter destruction of your mind, body, and soul.

However, those on Welfare don't really get any of this System BS. They're actually showered with more gifts of bounty by the System! Need more assistance? Yes? Here's your assistance *poof* $100's are in your bank account! Wasn't that just so easy peasy? While the working man and woman needs the same amount of $100's will be forced to go to those payday loan places. Good luck paying back 100+% of the original loan AND the superfluous fees, taxes, and other BS all because the Pay Loan Industry is almost completely unregulated still to this very day!

But hey, it feels so super great to have a literal back breaking job of which noone loves, cares for you, respects you, and will backstab you and even literally murder you whenever it suits your coworkers for their non-existent chances of advancement in y'all's workplace, yeah?

Instead of having the insurance, what if you saved all the money you spend on the premiums, and paid the doctor/dentist in cash? Would that work?

I would think this would work for ordinary, everyday "doctor-needed" type things.

But what if you suddenly became catastrophically ill? Cancer, or Open-heart surgery type things? Those can cost upwards of hundreds of THOUSANDS of dollars. Most of us cannot afford that type of a hit, even if we saved every last disposable penny.

How much do those procedures cost in Canada? Britain? How about countries w/o single payer like Brazil, India or South Korea? The issue is GRAFT people. And as long as we stand for hospitals making up "costs" out their asses that insurance companies then collude to discount, but still charge you an arm and a leg HAHAHHA, they will keep thieving. Get it yet?!

what if you spent the money on organic healthy food & preventive herbs & yoga classes & the gym?
 Quoting: seer

That won't help you if you are hit with something diet and exercise won't help. Accidents happen and they can get expensive. Even breaking an arm can set a person back many thousands of dollars. And what about having a baby? Insurance is needed for that. A woman can get a midwife and pay cash but what if she needs more or the baby is sick? Then off to the hospital they go.

Re: What a nightmare... 900+% increase... Good lord, I am getting sick of this shit...
Just 2 generations ago, doctors made HOUSE CALLS.

Think of that.

When health insurance first started, around 100 years ago, it was NOT to pay for medical expenses. Everybody could afford to pay hospital bills OUT OF POCKET. But they could not afford the income lost if they were out of work for several months. So, insurance paid INCOME REPLACEMENT, not health expenses.

Think of THAT.

As the federal government has become more and more involved in the health care industry, to the point where today MORE THAN HALF of all health care dollars goes through the feds, the expense has gone higher and higher. Just like taxes, or anything else the government touches.

We have separation of church and state.

We need separation of health care and state.

Medicine has also become more high tech than it was 100 years ago. And that takes money. But not as much money as they are charging because of insurance. And with the population being so much larger and tests needing to be done, house calls are just not feasible anymore. Some doctors are doing 'housecalls' via computer but that is not the norm and you still have to pay for that. But it is better than having to trek into the nearest office when you are sick and others are as well. Things have to change it is just not easy.

How about if you put all those premium bucks into staying super healthy?

(best food, best habits and nutrition, best methods to exercise for you)
stuff like that.

Lose the fear and "what if's". What if's ARE their main mode of propaganda and seeding those thoughts ya know.

I have a friend whose family pays 25K/year for health insurance and they can't drop it. Their child was born with health problems and needs care and one of them got cancer and needs follow up care. They are very angry about it all but there is nothing they can do except to keep paying it all. No amount of clean living will help the child who needs meds. There are many people like them out there that are stuck.

Re: What a nightmare... 900+% increase... Good lord, I am getting sick of this shit...
This is why the local, county and state governments are raising taxes. To provide low cost, if any at all to the gov't employees.

We on the outside are being forced to pay and pay, the never ending double digit price increases for medical and every form of taxation.

Now we know why we on the outside are looked down upon, the haves and have nots.

You don't pay your taxes, you will lose. Can't afford medical, you will lose.

A lot of this could be reined in, allowing the full time working class, non-gov't employees to be part of the state insurance pool. Yes we would pay our part, but allow us to be an equal.

If not, there will be two class of individuals, gov't paid health and the rest of us.
