Funny 'coincidence': there are two 'Lands of Canaan'

And mind you, Knaan and Canaan are written the same in Hebrew.

So which one is the original? And who are the original Canaanites? Is barren middle-eastern desert really the promised land of milk and honey (mead), did middle-easterers drink mead? Anything wrong here?

Israel is not barren, far from it. One of its main exports are agricultural products!
