Make your own ranch salad dressing/dip spice mix
Amaze your friends...it is well worth getting these ingredients, and making a large batch of this dry mix, which you can store in the frig or freezer......directions for mixing the dressing (or dip) is at the bottom of the recipe....YOU WILL NEVER BUY ANY OTHER RANCH DRESSING, IT IS SO GOOD.........and it does not have any of the additives like msg, in the purchased kind,,,,,,enjoy,
me too

Ranch Dressing and Dip Spice Mix

7 ½ saltine crackers
1/2 cup dry parsley flakes, minced
1/3 cup dry onion flakes
1 Tablespoon dry dill weed
1/8 cup onion salt
1/8 cup garlic salt
1/8 cup onion powder
1/8 cup garlic powder
2 Tablespoons dried basil
2 Tablespoons celery seed
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried tarragon

Dump all ingredients into a blender or food processor and blend until powdered. You will get about 1 ½ to 2 cups of mix.

Store mix in frig or freezer, with a note on it about how to use, as below:

TO USE: The day before serving….
Mix:
1 level tablespoon measure of the spice mix
1 cup of mayo
1 cup of buttermilk. (use sour cream if you are making dip)
Whisk thoroughly and add:
Couple tablespoons finely chopped sweet white onion, or Vidalia onion, or
about three green onions with some of the green part…..

Re: Make your own ranch salad dressing/dip spice mix
Pasted and printed. I used the official ranch dressing in its powdered form most of the time. It has a different taste from the bottled. It has become quite expensive in recent years... nice to have this recipe. Thank you OP!

Re: Make your own ranch salad dressing/dip spice mix
Thank you for taking the time to post this. I made ranch dressing from scratch once from cookbook recipe. This will be much more convenient.

Curious: Where did you find this recipe? I'm intrigued about the addition of saltine crackers.

Re: Make your own ranch salad dressing/dip spice mix
that amounts to about 1/3 of a cup of salt in only 2 cups total !

do you have any idea how much sodium we're looking at here ?

I suggest a light vinegar olive oil dressing base - with the non-salted spices above added per taste

you can whip it too if you like to make it creamy

Yes. It's delicious. I do use a bit more of the
seasoning mix. Do use the full fat buttermilk
for the dressing.
I tried the dip today. Using full fat sour
cream (Daisy brand). Chopped up a bit of
cilantro as an added addition for nacho chips.
