Bookfinder is much better source for books. And cheaper even if you are buying a penny book. The shipping is not as fast but the selection is far superior. They link to amazon offers as well. The search engine is more advanced and has no bias. In other words it offers the least expensive book first. Takes a bit to get used to it but it’s worth the effort.

I havent had the chance to explore it yet, and use Amazon for most book downloads. They DONT have everything though, so maybe bookfinder is better for that?

I have to tell you all the crazy ass shit that happened to me last night.

Husband ordered me some awesome B&O headsets for my birthday ( [link to www.amazon.com (secure)] ). Hissy Missy stole my Bose to go with her Alienware computer, so I have no headsets at the moment.

Heavenly headsets arrived from Amazon yesterday; or so I thought. Me: "Yay!!! I have been working, and painting, my ass off on this house. Tonight, I'm gonna log on GLP with a nice pour of single malt, and enjoy some Enigma through my awesome headsets."

I open the package to not only find zero headsets, but the accessories package filled with half a bag of Trader Joe's macaroni, some disgusting, melted slimy Reeses eggs (I fucking HATE Reeses), and some little wooden peggie things that were probably perverted Japanese sex toys or something. I was absolutely gobsmacked.

Sooooo ------ instead of GLPing with my great music, through my great headsets, last night, I was on the phone with Amazon. Went through a customer rep & his supervisor who were just as gobsmacked as I was, and ended up with a manager. Had to email her pics of the entire mess, she just could not believe it. They are sending me another package, due to arrive tomorrow, that I hope actually contains B&O headsets, and not some other nasty items. I sent the package of gross stuff back to them today, as they want to have this in their possession to examine.

They clearly have a warehouse thief, and I hope the shit gets caught. I have been a member of Amazon since 1998 when I bought books, am a Prime member now, and order from them constantly -- Thank God, for that at least gave me credibility. I also hold a bit of Amazon stock, so that damn little asshole thief is stealing from me too

Or they took a return, brick in the box approach.

Purchase item, weigh item, remove item, replace item with macaroni etc to the exact weight, shrink wrap box so it appears to have never been opened, send item back, get refund.

Amazon now has brick in box waiting for next person to purchase.

The returns dont work that way
actually. What you return does not, in most cases, go back to the manufacturer.

Amazon auctions off pallets of mixed returns by the lot, which vary in size, usually wrapped for their particular category....electronics, clothing, aporting goods, etc. I think that is where some of the big online auction and bid sites get most, if mot all of their stuff.

Amazon is looking to launch prescription drug service as part of prime. Wonder if they'll sell those returns by the pallet too hahaha.

Thats thick smoke!!
Please be careful with breathing it, especially if you have respiratory issues. (YES Mom lol) ...but Im serious.

I live in the Midatlantic area and although wildfires to the south tend not to get as large as in the west,
I do remember one summer, where it seemed the whole of West Virginia was burning, and the smoke became so thick that visibility was reduced to under 1/4 mile.....and the Smell!

We had dangerous air quality warnings off and on for weeks!

Stay safe Big D111.

I'm not creepy just quiet,
I listen more than I talk.
But when I talk, I do Talk.

It's when I stop talking that there is something wrong.

Awww Niamh.
This is for you.
Life is just hard sometimes, I know.
You can always pm me if you need to talk.
Sometimes its helpful to have someone
just listen. ( And if you are one of those rare women who feel the need to reciprocate in some way, which is absolutely not necessary...all I would want is some great Gaelic Swear Words.)

Fringe -- the word can be used again. Not a no-no word any longer. Hopefully, we never have to add it again. Makes some of our esoteric discussions on Pool Party here easier.
 Quoting: Lady Jane Smith

What is the WORD?

(I totally missed that post)

And regarding esoterica, Ive been having some great discussion in the "Law of One thread with some outstanding posters, if any of you are interested. Its a slow mover; but that gives time for well thought out discussion. And, interestingly enough, it seems that many of the participants are analysing the subject matter against their own experience, which is valuable, at least, to my mind.

And I know some ac's that have posted in THIS thread have laughed at us for lol,
Umm chattering...but I regard that as esoteric too...life IS spirit manifest.
And this IS the Pool Party after all!

Anyway...what is the word that we werent allowed to say and now ARE?

chuckle

Millennia of human activity': heatwave reveals lost UK archaeological sites

Snip

The scorching weeks of the summer of 2018 left crops shrivelled and gardens scorched. It has also revealed the lines of scores of archaeological sites across the UK landscape, tracing millennia of human activity, from neolithic cursus monuments laid out more than 5,000 years ago to the outline of a long-demolished Tudor hall and its intended replacement.

Lost sites have been turning up all over Britain and Ireland, ploughed flat at ground level but showing up as parch marks from the air, in areas where grass and crops grow at different heights, or show in different colours, over buried foundations and ditches. A treasure trove of discoveries, including ancient field boundaries, lost villages, burial mounds and military structures, was revealed on Wednesday, recorded during the summer by aerial archaeologists flying over the landscape for Historic England.

Roof turned out great. Feeling rested, so I will pick up my brushes and get going again tomorrow. Have some plantation shutters to paint in the upstairs family room.

Good morning friends. The combines finally got here last night to cut my wheat. Wheat has done very well around the area this year. Hot and dry here and lots of fires and smoke! Hope everyone is well!
 Quoting: bigD111

Congratulations BigD111, Im sure that you are relieved. And its wonderful that you had a good crop year.

I hope the fires aren't getting on towards your place in any way, and that you get some time to rest.

Huge relief! No fires here, yet, but the smoke is awful! Most days we can't see the mountains which are just a few miles away! Sometimes, we can't even see our mountain, which is 2 miles from my house!
 Quoting: bigD111

Thats thick smoke!!
Please be careful with breathing it, especially if you have respiratory issues. (YES Mom lol) ...but Im serious.

I live in the Midatlantic area and although wildfires to the south tend not to get as large as in the west,
I do remember one summer, where it seemed the whole of West Virginia was burning, and the smoke became so thick that visibility was reduced to under 1/4 mile.....and the Smell!

We had dangerous air quality warnings off and on for weeks!

Stay safe Big D111.

We got an air quality warning yesterday. I was swathing yesterday.

I had made a request and I think it may have been the answer. What say you about what it might be? hmm
