I hope all of you are well and succeeding in your various pursuits. My mothers incapacitation accelerated and she passed away in February of this year. All of my efforts were geared towards keeping her happy and comfortable with her family around her. Although the circumstances leading to her death were unfortunate , I am happy to report that she passed away very suddenly while chatting happily to a kind, young (and hot) male nurse :-). :cheer: Its strange being without her and as I will have an empty household in a few short months, I will be starting a new chapter in life Its a little scary, but exciting too! Ive been talking to my daughter, and we are toying around with the idea of becoming hiker trash on the AT for a week or so this fall ... just to try it out. Hahaha knowing me ill probably stray off the trail and break my ankle... Cheers Everyone! It feels good to be back. Its still a grand funkadelic insane moshpit, just like I left it. :-) Last Edited by Caillech on 05/05/2019 02:07 PM "How beautiful the leaves grow old. The pool party is ongoing -- just that M&M have been very busy as of late, and I have a house full of scaffolding. Normalcy will return, the pool noodles and champagne floats will resume. Ele User ID: 75588199 United States 05/26/2019 01:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For any of the gardeners on this thresd... I have discovered a new product Pitt Moss [link to pittmoss.com (secure)] Using this in your potted plants, or mixing with your raised bed soil, reduces the need for watering by 73 percent!!! Many people like to container garden, (Flutterby) but the heat and the moisture loss is a problem, and roots do not like being hot. Pitt Moss is an organic peat free alternative and is made of recycled paper and fertilizing agents. Its easy to use....just mix with your potting soil at the suggested ratios. Im using this product this year for the first time ever, (after having tried the gel granules that are in baby diapers lol) and it hope it performs as advertised, but Ive asked The Guy down at the garden center and he has used it in his greenhouse and loves it. I am planting my garden today, and am mixing it in with the soil that is around the roots of the new plants, as well as using on top to help retain moisture. And for the first time, maybe just the rain will be enough, and I WILL NOT HAVE TO WATER THE GARDEN! Tip: the stuff is expensive online...ask your local garden supply of they can order it in for you. Good to hear that you have cultivated and the potatoes are coming up ! I have a question about potatoes, and since you mentioned potatoes, you are the man to ask lol I planted potatoes for the first time this year, and I've hilled them once with dirt, but the tops are about 7-8" high again. I have them planted in a rectangular type of cage for a vertical grow. Now, can I keep putting only straw on them or do I still need to add dirt? What's your opinion?
