Magnitude 6.7 earthquake strikes off Australia's Macquarie Island
SYDNEY, Australia: A magnitude 6.7 earthquake rocked the coast of Australia's remote Macquarie Island Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake struck west of Macquarie Island at 2:54 p.m. local time (0454 GMT), and was centered 10 kilometers (6 miles) below the seabed. The U.S. Geological Survey originally recorded the temblor as a 6.3 magnitude, but later upgraded the quake to 6.7.

Stuart Koyanagi, a geophysicist at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center at Ewa Beach, Hawaii, said the quake was unlikely to generate a major Pacific-wide tsunami.

"Normally at this magnitude we don't expect any kind of destructive tsunami," he said.

The isolated, sparsely populated island lies around 1,343 kilometers (835 miles) south of the island state of Tasmania, and serves as a base for Australian expeditions to Antarctica.

Considering the size of the big quakes lately, this one is fairly small. like a hiccup.

Macquarie's a strange place. In fact, all those Australian research stations are odd. I've been watching their videos for nearly a full year now. They seem...odd.

This is Macquarie...the video shows a jerked shot. I was told it was wind.

This is Mawson. Again, watch the buildings...it's a jerked shot. Wind? Well, perhaps. But watch it a few times and see if you notice the herky-jerky (Camp Mawson).

Watch the herky-jerky in this video (Camp Casey):

Did you see the snowline behind the red building? As the herky-jerky starts, the snow disappears, then reappears, then disappears again.

This one is interesting (Camp Davis). There's a big piece of floating ice just to the left of the shore of the landmass. It moves back and forth, then disappears. The lighting is herky-jerky.

These camps aren't close to each other, and their weather patterns can be quite distinct, yet each experiences the herky-jerky in pretty much the same manner.
"Until you are willing to organize your friends and neighbors and literally shut down cities - drive at 5mph through the streets of major cities on the freeway and stop commerce, refuse to show up for work, refuse to borrow and spend more than you make, show up in Washington DC with a million of your neighbors and literally shut down The Capitol you WILL be bent over the table on a daily basis." Karl Denninger

Don't blame me; I voted for Ron Paul.

What I see in the videos is not so much as Herky Jerky but a pulse in visable light , Not at all unlike a strobe light.

There was a strong earthquake in the Macquarie Island area not long before the big Tsunami in Indonesia - but I think it was stronger than 6.7. Both locations are on opposite edges of the same tectonic plate.

If you don't know what the big deal is, I'm not going to tell you.
