Every Van Halen Album Ranked From Worst to Best

The Gary Cherone era was definitely the band's nadir.

I only care about the first 6 and that order looks pretty solid to me.

Anything with Hagar the Horrible was garbage. Eddie had also lost his edge by then.

I'm not sure why Eddie thought ANYONE wanted to hear him play keyboards. Dave was right.

I liked "A Different..." quite a bit.

There's some dogs on there for sure, but considering DLR's previous VH albums where all around 30 mins, I consider this disc to have the bones to be right up there, once you remove the stinkers.

Plus, most are re-hashes of 70's unreleased tunes anyway.

Didn't ever care for "Van Hagar"...I liked Sammy's earlier stuff...Heavy metal, 3 lock box, etc....pre Van Hagar...

I didn't realize Warner carried all but one over 20 years. Thanks for thread!! Eddie is one of a kind for sure.

Van Hagar was just a different band altogether - they got so pop-centric.

However, that title track, "5150" still gives me the good chills for some reason, not unlike "Girl Gone Bad" from 1984.

I actually liked the Hagar era...he has a better voice than Roth..it definitely was poppier, I will grant you that, but I think he brought more to the table, musically.

Around 1974-75 we went to some club in the Valley. It had an age restriction. No one over 21 allowed in. Something like that. It was a very small stage but David Lee Roth was still doing those kicks. There was a bar and behind they said a couple were fucking. Probably true.

Just take 'em in order of release... there's your order. 1st=best Last = worst

The first ten were part of a 25 track demo done with Gene Simmons (remember him 😝?) in 1976. I think he is the only person that has the other 15.

The others were the Warner Demos done with Ted Templeman in 1977. Originally they were better quality than the Gene Simmons demos (think same audio quality as 5150, per se) but those have been copied, ripped, burned, ripped again like 10 million times, and to my knowledge, these recordings are about 10th string.

As someone mentioned above, some of these tracks were on ADKOT.

I'm so over these bastards. Sorry, I'll play the first two or three albums once in a great while. Progression is a good thing in some cases. You go on to bigger and better things.

Eddie does have talent but his head can't handle that shit anymore. The choices that led up to now I mean. Make a thread about underground new music that's good. That sounded wrong, I'd love to hear about what new music is rocking out on.
