Yeah, the mentally lazy editor of snopes, Kim LaCapria, primarily took the NYTimes' article as absolute truth...which included zero investigation.

It is comical how Snopes stamped it a 'hoax' in such an incredibly short time. The news is still breaking. If Snopes was legit it would have stamped it 'unproven'.

I am unsure who owns it, but I do know their 'researchers' are mainly college kids or liberal art flunk-outs.

Snopes is a hoax. Anyone that thinks it's authoritative is a moron.

I just read the snopes article. Its an interesting read, unfortunately, it doesn't spell out the crucial evidence needed to absolve the character of crime being debated.

Also, the other problem with all of this is, that no one can speak out in support of the alleged without facing prosecution as a sympathizor.

Additionally, if the alleged wanted to clear their name (even if they were guilty), they could just disprove one of the points being made to their detriment. i.e. allow anyone to inspect the buildings for underground halls or otherwise rooms that are not in the county building permits. Even if they were guilty, this would sufficiently put a cap on the armchair investigators.

So, yeah, everyone is coming to conclusions on their own, without the need for any fake news sites claiming or perpetuating these egregious allegations. The problem is, most of this stuff ends up in a court where most people allow the responsibility to fall into the hands a judges/prosecutors, or the alleged sue the proprietors of misinformation for slander. Neither is happening here, and so the whirlpool of discontent gains momentum.
