I would be surprised if Donald Trump can pull this off...for starters people need to understand the fundamental reasons why manufacturing left the US (and other western countries)...high corporate taxes is but ONE of the reasons - and arguably a lesser reason - the MAIN reasons are LOW WAGES, combined with LOW LEGISLATIVE COMPLIANCE COSTS. Without these incentives, why would companies move their manufacturing from the likes of China, back to the US? It doesn't make sense. The current incarnation of capitalism works on the lowest common denominator i.e. the lowest possible wages, and the least amount of legislative compliance. If your country doesn't exhibit these traits then you are relegated to a service based economy with niche manufacturing. |

McDonald’s Response to $15 Minimum Wage: Automation in Every Store It’s official: McDonald’s says that every one of its 14,000 stores nationwide will be replacing cashiers with automated touch-screen kiosks. They’re starting with stores where minimum-wage laws mandate the highest rates, such as Florida, New York, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Seattle. [link to www.thenewamerican.com] "Some robots already cost less to operate than the salaries of the humans they replace, and they are getting cheaper and better. Boston Consulting Group predicts that, by 2025, the operating cost of a robot that does welding will be less than $2 per hour, for example. That's more affordable than the $25 per hour that a human welder earns today in the U.S., and even cheaper than the pay of skilled workers in the lowest-income countries. Trump may be able to keep immigrants out, but how will he stop the advance of robots?" "Uber and many other companies are working on developing cars and trucks that don't need a driver in the driver's seat. According to the American Trucking Associations, approximately 3 million truck drivers were employed in the United States in 2010, and 6.8 million others were employed in other jobs relating to trucking activity, including manufacturing trucks, servicing trucks and other types of jobs." [link to www.chicagotribune.com] Now think about what's related to truck industry, how about rest stops, restaurants, the hotels/motels, etc |

Ever wonder why American automakers move out because they say they can't make it here. But Toyota, BMW, etc come here and they prosper. Someone is giving them incentives to stay and someone is getting paid to allow this to happen. While taking those same incentives away from American automakers. This is just one example, and my guess is it has something to do with free trade agreements like NAFTA. This is what he says he intends to fix. Last Edited by BrokenTech on 11/29/2016 12:38 AM |

And you may as well dig yourself a grave with the amount of debt you have to go into now. I hope you didn't go to college because you don't seem very smart. |

Unfortunately, one American can manage 5 or 10 robots. Bringing jobs back to the U.S. for robots will keep the costs of products down, but really won't create any significant number of jobs. We are on the road to a workerless society, where people will be paid dividends from automated industry, every citizen will be a stockholder. |

I worked as mechanical engineer with material handling system. Automation and robot are not as cost effective as you might think. You can replace a 20,000 yr worker with robot but might cost you million dollar. Robot are not maintence free. |

People throw rocks at this, but the only thing that will keep us going when machines do all the labor, is a Guaranteed Minimum Wage. For doing nothing. If you Can come up with a job or a skill that you can sell, you can add that income to your GMW. Some jobs Must be performed by humans, so there will always be some jobs. I would ban Answering Machines and make that a human only job, for example. I would also ban foreign phone banks. No technical help from India or Pakistan. Make all foreign doctors go back to their countries and hire American or British doctors. Same with nurses. I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you. Slake Blake |

We're all just gonna have to whore each other out to one another and keep an underground economy rolling. That or whore ourselves out to the robots -- let them use your brain as extra server space and what not -- a live nearby storage device for them to clear out their harddrive on your face. |
