But are you really gonna have to shoot at something more than 300 yards out? Quoting: R. Wordsworth I like the AK Arsenal. They are milled in Bulgaria. I believe they operate out of Las Vegas. Arsenal is in Vegas, I may look at one of their higher end rifles if I decide to get an ak "battle rifle" or build one of the psa kits. |

Pretty sure those heli rotors are very sensitive as well. One nick in them and theyre scrapped, too dangerous to run them after that |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72665071 I'll give you two AKs if you wither the fire from either an Apache or A10 Thunderbolt. Thin aluminim indeed. I won't be taking that offer I enjoy being intact and not a series of stains on the earth. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 10545675 11/30/2016 09:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I like the AK & the SK. Also love the AR. And also the .308. Kinda like 45's as well. Can't complain about my .40 either. Basically if it goes "boom" then it goes on my short list of "likes". In a true fire-fight though I'm reaching for the AR. Distance would be the .308 and if I just wanted to f*ck someone's world all up and in a hurry then I'll grab the SK or AK. Have fun OP, they're a blast! (no pun intended) |

Id be more afraid if a guy with a $500 ak and iron sights with tons of training than a tacticool overbuilt rifle and less realistic training like always shooting prone or on sandbags, wtf? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72061515 I love my 300 AAC but the lack of commercially available ammunition and lack of time for reloading leaves it as a safe queen for most of its life. I really want a fal but they are fairly rare and I did not like the ptr 308 clones. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 72642215 ![]() 11/30/2016 09:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've been a die hard ar15 enthusiast for years now and ardently refused to buy an ak47 variant rifle. On blackfriday I visited my favorite gun store and noticed a stock ras47 sitting on the shelf for a very fair price. After 15 minutes of deliberation I took the plunge and bought the good old commie gun. After getting home I couldn't fight the urge to tear it apart and see how it ticks. No YouTube vids or online resources were referenced, I wanted to see if the ak47 design is truly a "peasants" weapon. In only 2-3 minutes I had the weapon in pieces on my work bench and was amazed at the simplistic design. The recoil spring is a self captured system that resembles two bent coat hangers hinged through one another, the bolt and piston are the only real moving parts which leaves very little to go wrong or "break". Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72665071 It's no where near as refined as the ar15 but that also means it's less finicky. It's pretty much perfection in its simplicity. Any moron could pick this weapon up and keep it serviceable and it seems to only have a few contact points that will requir lubricant. All in all this is a true peasants weapon and sadly I really like the design. If it passes the range tests I may invest in a high end ak variant. That being said I'll always be an ar15 guy but the ak may be my new mistress. I think the AK-47 is an excellent rifle. I have a scope on mine and can shoot a 10" pattern at 100yds with it. Me and a friend were at the range one day. I had my AK and he had his AR15. His jammed twice during the course of the day and mine didn't jam at all. Simple is good. |
