Thankfully he was only on hospice for about 2 weeks before he passed. Anyways just wanted to post something somewhere as he was the greatest man I've ever known. My mom was a single mother and I'll never forget when some asshole she was dating beat her half to death using the butt of a gun, and grandpa came and sat on the front porch for the next few nights, rifle in hand. He was going to shoot the bastard if he turned up again, not worried what would happen to him, (prison), he wanted justice, like a true man. He was always there for us so I never really missed having a father as I had my grandpa to look up to and learn from. He was teacher that touched so many students that he was still in contact with many students to the day he died. A great man who touched lives all over the world through his extensive travels. He loved adventure and doing new things so I hope he is on a new adventure now, whether heaven, the next dimension or experiencing space as an entity of light, who knows but I wish you all the best and I love you. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73474421 Sorry for your loss..".hugs |

RIP grandpa. Quoting: INFOCAS I'm sorry to hear that although every other man that was in my life growing up was a piece of shit until I turned 14. It just really sucks when we lose one of the good ones. He was taking care of his neighbor with ms up until a month ago, no payment or anything he just liked to be helpful. They do NOT make them like him anymore. He fought for our country and survived. He taught kids for 50 years...I just...he was awesome!!! |

I would have loved to have gotten another 17 years out of mine but I eventually found the path he was on and I am eternally grateful also. It matters to be a man. |

But the time I cherish the most is when I would visit them on weekends as a young adult. My sisters thought I was crazy because they said he talked too much and was boring. It was their loss and my gain. My grandfather told me about many "conspiracy" theories that I read on GLP now. Among the things he told me about was about the Federal Reserve, the sinking of the Titanic, the elites of the world, etc., and what he felt the world was heading to. He was an honourable man with very high standards. He shaped my belief systems more than anyone. Wish I could talk to him now that many of the things he talked about are coming to light now. I miss him very much. |

There is nothing to describe the love a grandmother or grandfather has for their grandbaby(ies.) Special things will happen in your life to let you know that the ones who have loved and passed are still with you. Watching, guiding, protecting their most cherished children. We love you too, OP. Only the insane have the strength to prosper. Only those that prosper, judge what is sane. |

Thank you, and I'm sorry you never got to meet yours. There's nothing I can say but sorry. I'm very thankful that he was only on hospice less than 2 weeks before he was gone. Grandpa loved to hike and even at 94 he walked everyday. Being stuck in a bed was his worst nightmare so thank god or whoever as he did not have to suffer long. |
