Oh, and according to BPEarthClown it is a "large comet".
I don't know BPE's definition of "large", but with a diameter of about 1 km it is one of the smallest known comets.

And no, given that there will no major outbreak, it will not be naked eye visible on new years eve - at mag 7 it will be a nice object for binos and small telescopes but not for the naked eye, even not at very dark places. It will be a little brigther around February 11, 2017 but at mag 6.3 still not a naked eye object.
