Unless it's for a comic book or a children's book, I don't recommend doing that as a writer's choice.

Just use the word "howl" or one of its other synonyms like "bay".

What you are suggesting is cartoonish, unless that's your intention.

I take your point. Is onomatopoeia so frowned on, I suppose so when I think, like the sound of a man falling. Yeah I do take you point.
