Will everything that we write in the internet be saved for eternity?
including this thread?

I mean... even if one day GLP no longer exists, I'm sure Google has a cache of all pages from here... and other search engines must have a cache as well... and some intelligence agencies too...

each thread here is saved in many different databases....

those databases will always have backup...

so, will people in the year 79016 (77 thousand years in the future) be able to research everything that we write here?

INCLUDING the fart threads?

No, everything is being digitized so our civilization vanishes without a written record, just like Atlantis

"If one understands that socialism is not a share-the-wealth program, but is in reality a method to consolidate and control the wealth, then the seeming paradox of super-rich men promoting socialism becomes no paradox at all. Instead it becomes the logical, even the perfect tool of power-seeking megalomaniacs. Communism, or more accurately, socialism, is not a movement of the downtrodden masses, but of the economic elite." -- Gary Allen, 1971

I'm part of a the privileged generation that saw the birth of the internet.

I remember a time when there was no Yahoo and no Google. And the word "internet" wasn't even known to people outside of universities.

I saw how it all started. All this internet mess.

only in your dreams...

USA, Russia and China have several underground military bases with many servers that are protected even from nuclear holocaust

there are so many hard drives in underground facilities, that could store the whole internet (maybe excluding videos) four times or more...

of course the researchers form the future will have tons and tons of material to analyze, and they maybe never read your threads...

but in a long enough timeline, someone will read it some day

even all the bullshit that people wrote in the Usenet groups back in the 1980's will be saved for eternity...

but it's a pity that everything that people wrote in the IRC channels between 1995 and 2005, in the IRC era, is lost forever...

EVERYTHING is a historical document

EVERYTHING must be preserved... specially when the physical space needed is so small... all of GLP fits easily into a blu-ray disc

A possible reason for your farts to be considered agreeable, would be that you have a garlic clove stuck up your bum.

The reason for that would be a different can of worms.

Picture this...

The year is 4689

A team of "data" archeoligists returns from a trip abroad with a cache of what they term "confusing data" and someone breaks into the facility and steals what they found.

A year later a weird cult spings up out of nowhere.

They are noted for the weird symbol they project from their mindlink holographic projectors that simply says A1.

And people are drawn to it...and the group gets around with no pants and has a strange substance dripping from their scrotal sacks.

Basically... no.

Everything requires energy to exist. Including information.

Once there is no more will to hold onto this info, it will disappear. Things are more complicated because of digitisation and stuff... but the point is the same... It's like how hoarders collect so much trash, or books... then one day they DIE and someone just throws out all the stuff they collected into the rubbish heap.

The last people to hold onto useless information will be the ones who suffer for it, like hoarders, and it will destroy them.

if it is all saved on CD, DVD, BlURAY....maybe.
however one good and righteous solar magnetic flare could erase half of the world.
they may be able to dodge this, by going very deep, and adding a faraday cage around the servers.

One large EMP burst over this country at an altitude of 200 miles would fry all our servers and most of our digital content. The Alexandria library burning destroyed centuries of information and technology, eventually a solar flare or an EMP will do the same, only on a scale thousands of times greater
