My vet gave me Tramadol for my cat after I had her fixed, so if you have access to any of that for humans, it's the same stuff. Just cut down the typical 50 mg pill appropriately. Excerpt from [ link to www.vasg.org] Cats are dosed at 2-4 mg/kg (generally ¼ of a 50 mg tablet) BID (a few cats may become profoundly dysphoric and agitated). Metabolism is principally via hepatic biotransformation, with a small amount excreted unchanged by the kidneys. Side effects, though rare, may include GI upset and sedation. A 7 lb cat is ~3.2 kg, so at 4mg/kg, you are looking at ~13 mg per dose, or ~1/4 pill. see also [ link to www.vetinfo.com (secure)]
