U.S. College Students Express Support For Female Genital Mutilation

A shocking new video offers new insight into the profound ignorance being promoted on American University campuses . The video, filmed by the human rights advocacy group the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), shows students at Columbia University in New York expressing support for the barbaric practice of female genital mutilation (FGM).

“Students were asked if Planned Parenthood should fund and support female genital mutilation," notes AFDI President Pamela Geller. "FGM involves partial or total removal of the clitoris causing injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. It has no health benefits for girls and women, and removes all possibility of sexual pleasure. It is the worst kind of misogyny. Procedures can cause severe bleeding and problems urinating, and later cysts, infections, as well as complications in childbirth and increased risk of newborn deaths."

Female genital mutilation, also known as female circumcision, is considered by many to be a human rights violation against women including the United Nations which has expressly called for its abolition.

According to AFDI, the video shows the need for honest and realistic education about the crime of female genital mutilation, and the failure of the American academic establishment to provide that education.
