The heart knows better than the mind in most cases.

The heart is conditioned by emotion, feeling and the mind is conditioned by outside stimulus.

Be careful about following your heart.... depends what's in your heart..... heart is often depicted as love....
but sometimes there is the opposite to love in a heart....
I always ask, God's Will be done.....in my heart....
then can't go wrong.... best final result...

Though I suggest using a balance of emotion and logic.
