in my timeline after trump became president, we all needed to carry ID at all times or we would be arrested and deported after a while the mandatory chip implants came into use. we all opted to use these as the AI drones tasked with defending the border and other government areas accidently killed a few american citizens and with the chip they could recognise you as a non target. work houses were opened up to provide food and shelter for all those who previously relied on government welfare, which came to an end only three months into the presidency. those riots were insane a lot of ciries got torched.

The armed rebellion would take place long before any chip got a chance to be implanted in anyone's body.
