We're not in Kansas anymore... the artist who painted this 1973 jazz album cover has gone on record (pun intended) by frank weiss/wess (yes the musician's name has been effected too!) to say they copied the logo from fotl (which at the time contained a horn of plenty/cornucopia) !!! Yes the effect is very real!

I think the rational explanation for this one simply that whenever traditional people see a basket of fruit they automatically think of a cornucopia as well because the two are associated and something with the positioning of the fruit led us to believe this was the case. And much like an optical illusion this is a memory illusion. The cornucopia fills the negative space of our minds memory and over time have form on the Internet.
