Bunny Rabbits are Taking over Las Vegas!

The yards, parks and lots of Vegas are home to thousands of feral rabbits. Known as “bunny dump sites” to the legions of volunteers that care for their residents, they’re strange places, more tragic than adorable, where the human heart clashes with the limited resources of the state.

Released by overwhelmed pet-owners and left to breed, the rabbits now overwhelm any attempt at government control, digging up public property, chewing on pipes, and ending up dead in the sewers.

All these people saving rabbits.

I bet most of them are MEAT EATERS. Do they ever care about what kind of lives are led by the poor animals in factory farms?

Animal Control needs to stop catching stray dogs for awhile until the rabbit population gets under control. And aren't there any coyotes and foxes in that city? They need to let them be for awhile and let nature take its course.

All those water lawns will be GONE!

I know for a fact that LV has plenty of homeless people who would love some fresh meet.

I guess they didn't learn from Australia.

They were there first. It's the out-of-control replication (sound familiar?) of human development that is partially to blame.

i remember a movie about....giant breeding radioactive rabbits down there years ago....


they killed them with a freighttrain!

I'd take that contract if they allowed me to use my air rifle within city limits I could easily eliminate the rabbit problem.

Bunnies are adorable, we have had a few as pets.

Yet they are "prey" animals-- how ever you want to look at what that means, it is simply true.

Prey animals require predators to stay at a reasonable balance. In a world with limited resources it would seem absurd to spend vast amounts of resources to spay and neuter RABBITS???

Rabbits are useful as food and their fur-- chickens and fish are not as "cute" -- still, when people are hungry.

No coyotes in Las Vegas area?

Stop killing their predators, coyotes and such. I suppose there are plenty of coyote killers there.

there were coyotes and foxes as late as 1999

If you want to get rid of Rabbits, then get some birds of prey like hawks and owls. That will cull the rabbit population....

Were they all turned into fur coats or something?
....because rabbits are GOOD EATS for those guys.

Ahhhhh I see the problem now....wrong type of firearms being used.

No. These are feral pet rabbits. Likely descended from EUROPEAN RABBITS which unlike American cottontail live in COLONIES and MAKE MASSIVE WARRENS - they are the sort that took over Australia.

That is the answer.

But once the rabbits know people kill them, they become very hard to find - nocturnal you know.

Actually, best would be a bunch of snakes.

I think most don't know about this. It's an incubator waiting to burst open.

They say if you go to the area there will be a few running around but if you put out lettuce etc. THOUSANDS TURN UP! (They are still being treated like pets).

There are many recipes for rabbit, they eat them, so that is where and how you get rid of them. Sell them to a butcher.
