Anonymous Coward User ID: 124911 United Kingdom 02/13/2007 08:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The report goes on to state, "the officers could have opted not to Tase Ms. Delafield with two separate Tasers. Additionally, the officers could have decided upon a different approach once they realized that their Tasers were not causing Ms. Delafield to drop her weapons." -------------------------------------------------------- Considering the fact that Ms.Delafeld was physically unable to get out of her wheelchair, and therefore totally unable to attack the officers with any of her alleged weapons unless they walked right up to her, they could have just decided to keep their distance and talk calmly to her until she decided to give up. But that wouldn't have been any fun at all. |

If should could have stood and flashed the knife toward the police it would have legal to use deadly force. |

This is a society of laws and if you cant follow them then perhaps you should leave...are there bad cops...ooh yeah, but that doesnt mean they somehow did their job wrong nor does it mean you have all of the details. I find it funny how when something in the media you dont agree with your all over them but when its something you like the media tells all and is great. |

You're an idiot. Why should the police put themselves in danger by walking up close to a lady armed with knives and put a blanket over her head? Safety is about distance. The female cop probably tased her once, the lady dropped the weapons, then picked them back up again. And the cop had to tase here again. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 195126the article says nothing about how long they talked to her before the taser so how do you know what happened? Okay. Since you support the police and all. So if it was YOU in the wheelchair, and if YOU were having a really bad day (being confined to a wheelchair might have that sort of effect on people).... How much time time would YOU have liked to have the police invest in calming you down, and de-escalating the situation, before they decided to kill you? How many minutes, or hours, would you choose to have your public servants take out of their busy (but totally taxpayer funded work day) before they violently end the life of one of the people (you) they are supposedly being paid to protect? |

Hot Head User ID: 115 United States 02/13/2007 08:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They should have used that new heat-ray weapon that supposedly is non-lethal but subdues people with heat. Wait a minute if I remember correctly the victim has to be able to move out of the beam or they will be cooked like a hot dog. Might not be a good idea on a wheel chair victim. Last month, the Pentagon unveiled what appears to be the flagship of its non-lethal deterrent arsenal, a system that uses focused "millimeter waves" of energy to create an intolerable heat sensation on the skin without causing permanent damage. The Active Denial System, otherwise known as ADS, was demonstrated publicly at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia on a group of reporters who volunteered to play guinea pigs so that they might experience firsthand the weapon's sizzling effect. Standing hundreds of yards away from the ADS, journalists in the line of fire reported feeling temperatures of 130 degree Fahrenheit mere moments after the device was aimed at them, prompting them to scramble out of the line of fire and proving its effectiveness to skeptical media. |

idw User ID: 193492 United States 02/13/2007 08:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The police are conditioned and trained to believe they are involved in a war against us, the people they supposedly protect. The fact is the police do not protect us from each other, but only the rich from the poor to boil it down to brass tacks. The police consider me the enemy, and they are right. So long as police act as if we are the enemy, I will be a formidable enemy. Use the law , and complain loudly and publically, and you can control police abuse. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 195126 United States 02/13/2007 08:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | a taser is generally not lethal, that is why they are allowed. I dont understand why people always stick up for lawbreakers. It is against the law to grab knives and hammers and threaten to kill people. You do not know how long the officers were talking to hear do you? I dont care if someone is upset, if you are told by an officer of the law to drop a weapon you drop it and if you dont you face whatever it takes to get it away from you. Police officers have an extremely shitty job, they put up with more bs than one person should have to handle and they do it daily. I got an idea, why dont some of you people who think all cops are screwing the public go on some ride alongs, it would be an eye opening experience for you. Sometimes they go beyond the law and should be punished but without all of the information you should`nt lump them all together. Hell 60% of a criminal case is never in the public realm and if it was would the papers publish it? no because the story is not as juicy. |

I've "met' dozens of cops in my lifetime, and not a damned one of them was worth a rope to hang him. I don't know what it is about people who choose to be police officers, but they tend to be violent, aggresive power trippers and have very little respect for the law as it applies to them, while willing to stretch ot pervet the law to get someone they want... Speeding cops are an example we all deal with daily. police believe they have immunity from law because they enforce law.I have a state police oficer who drives past my residential nighborhood with small children every day on his way home from work , in excess of 70 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone. complaints yielded notthing but threats, enough said. Anyone wanna see the video of him speeding by, or do you believe me? LMAO |
