On Monday, Bercow told MPs Trump will not be welcome to address Parliament on his state visit to the UK because of its opposition to racism and sexism. In a major snub to the American president, Bercow said he was “strongly opposed” to Trump speaking in the Commons as he stressed that being invited to address parliament was “not an automatic right” but an “earned honour.”
“Before the imposition of the migrant ban I would myself have been strongly opposed to an address by President Trump in Westminster Hall. After the imposition of the migrant ban by President Trump I am even more strongly opposed to an address by President Trump in Westminster Hall.”
I am beside myself with rage at the statement made by Burcow, and think this has more to do with President Trump's vow to drain the political swamp in the US. This will ultimately expose the nasty underbelly of politicians in the UK who have presided over decades of abuse of authority.
Thankfully this seems to have been eradicated in recent times and I have great faith that Theresa May during Brexit and beyond will out all the seedy self-serving criminal elements and we can get on with building Britain in the template of President Trump.
Like the President I think we should concentrate on repatriating refugees back to a country where they can feel safe, undoing the carnage inflicted through the Blair/Bush illegal wars.
Back to Burcow, he should in the least apologise to Mr Trump and stand down. He has clearly demonstrated that he cannot be impartial (a required skill for his post). In my opinion, it would make a refreshing change to have someone (not a career politician) bring some fresh ideas. Over two hundred years of our two party style government has left the British family in tatters.
I trust the Welsh assembly members will invite President Trump to speak at his earliest convenience and give him a warm welcome.
Thank you for your time.
