Northeast Vermont...expecting the same in a few hours. wood is in, water bottles ready for use and consumption, milk jugs with water for flushing. ( electric well pump), heavy duty tin foil for heating prepared ahead meals in the wood stove. coffee water will just take longer to heat on top of the stove.
Plough guy can wait till Thursday, we are hunckered down. Hope everyone else out there is too. stay safe...definition; stay off the roads.

Uh ... long extension cord and a hair blower?

NO!! That might just melt the water and create a giant icicle. I was just watching the weather channel and they showed this poor sap who had an icicle that weighed 1,000 pounds that was about to crash through his roof. He was planning on using a chain saw to cut through it.

Good luck!!

Yeah, it's gettin deep. Just went to let the cat out to go potty and realized that whoever designed outside storm doors to open outwards weren't thinking of snow storms, that's for sure.

Let's see. Valentine's Day. Heavy, blowing snow. Alot of times after a good Minnesota blizzard, about 9 months later, you'll be seeing a spike in the maternity wards!

Have fun! It's just winding down here. We had over 14 inches of snow and wind gusts reaching 40 mph. Come on spring!

Re: Live Blizzard Updates from Upstate NY
Watch out NYC area! I'm seeing a 45 KNT mid level jet coupled with a 60 KNOT low level jet by Noon today. This is a warning if you live in the area. Strong winds will happen. OWS formula is calculating winds gusting over 50 MPH in spots. No snow will fall during the afternoon. This should all be RAIN. The main concern will be those really strong winds. Analysis shows that the surface low has tight gradients, and is riding toward the area now. It will only tighten stronger throughout the day. Expect the rain to change to snow after the evening and stay that way all night into Thursday Morning. How much snow? Well at this time the lifting force earlier in the day would lift to the Northeast before the rain changes to snow so we will leave out accumulations at this time. Maybe an inch of snow and thats it. It will be a light snowfall at times for the entire night into Thursday Morning before sunrise where it will just taper off into nothing. Central NY state will see over 2 feet of snow with this system. Cape code will not see snow at all, with Boston facing about 2-3 inches of snow. That is all.

If you don't have a roof rake then use a large toothed garden rake, cut plastic soda bottles the long way, duct taped to rake.
keep heating and plumbing roof vents cleared.
