i`ve seen this effect before: when i get water on my glasses and look at a street light.
someone is using a poorly focused telescope and claiming to have solved the mysteries of the universe. well done, here is your nobel prize.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9094168 beat me to it but yes i've seen this effect with out of focus telescopes, the sirius B one looks like we're looking at the cameras aperture or something internal to the camera Also condensation on the lens. Telescopes need to be outside at least an hour before use in order for the condensation to clear.
