Okay the rain is over until November. The concrete will be even more cured. The guardrail will be complete. The spillway and the gates got a good test a few weeks ago.

I think it's just rain water. I noticed it reflecting off of the setting sun the other day, after several bouts of rain. It wasn't there prior to all the rain of late.

just like winter is supposed to be over in Colorado and we keep not being able to have tomato plants yet.. snow yesterday and I have the furnace running 4 days in a row.

The hillsides and bottom of that reservoir are saturated with water and piping is going on and it will blow and sooner rather than later.. doesn't matter the spillway construction or the "emergency spillway" have a concrete apron on it.

The interior of the actual dam is eroding too. There are sink holes forming IN the lake and draining some water down under further risking bigger collapses in the bottom. the Dam and its abutments are going to fail. I haven't asked about if any of the surrounding hills might slide into the mess. I need to do that. There is no way to get the reservoir lower than waiting on a dry season.

Fools will be fools to the end. And perish for it.

No, DWR has fault and something isn't right. They need to come clean and also fix those darn gates!!!!!!! Do their JOBS fixing that dam, which they neglected for many many years.

How long have you lived in Colorado?

Back in the mid 1970's I remember one 4th of July camping trip where I was fighting overnight temps in the LOW teens and snow up in the mountains of both southern Colorado and near Leadville. As I recall it had a snow/rain mix almost all the way down to Buena Vista as one came down the Arkansas River watershed.

It is NOT YET summer in Colorado!!

I was born and raised in Colorado.. lived here all but 2 years when ex hubby was in the military and we went to Texas.

I was born in Steamboat Springs.. and other than the time husband was in Army have lived in the Denver Metro region. we have some small patches of blue sky. It is RARE to have this cold and delayed spring. and per Colorado .. we have had very early snows too.. I remember a big one in Steamboat during the last week of school before labor day... more than a foot of wet stuff that brought down power lines like crazy. It happens.. but its not every year. Usually in May I have the swamp cooler running with sometimes heat in very early morning but rarely into May.

I set up my little indoor swamp cooler after a few days near 80 or so and then the cold came back.. Not sure I am going to do tomatoes or corn this year...

Has the the snow pack in the mountains meted yet? What is the condition of the dams upstream? Weather models show numerous rain events for the area in the coming days and weeks, yet no plans to make room for more water?

No one believes these numbers and all that but interesting to scale the outflow back so much.

They have no choice, the HPP was never designed to be a replace for the MS.

Snow pack has reportedly gained from this weather pattern.

Almanor upstream's numbers are top secret. Reported visually to be full.

They just posted numbers of decreased outflow out of the dam.

Its nearly June they will fill right to the top, they have a brand new fully functional and tested spillway. They do have plans for that water, they want to store it for the summer dry season

Its perfect that the recent weather was cooler, extra snowpack this time of year is fantastic news, slower inflows and prolonged runoff timescales, its like xmas for dam owners

A fully tested spillway that is now covered in mud (yes it is mud, workers were seen on video scraping the mud off), has a porta potty on it, and constant "Inspections". The fully functional spillway that has obvious signs of water under the slabs, high pressure water being forced up the the spillway wall drains, etc. etc...

The fully functional gates that are leaking like a sieve and for over the last week have had two manlifts in front of them.
