So...any back up generators for mission critical systems? Wonder if they could even try to open gates...should they dare. Let’s hope there is no rain.

Heck, anyone know if they can run the power plant without outside power? Nuclear power plants need outside power.

As I recall from 2017, outside power is required for the Hyatt Power PLant.

I believe that is why the shoo fly overhead power poles were installed when the original towers were removed.

Well....this might well be completely wrong. Have not looked myself. But, Hyatt, as in Hyatt hotels Hyatt? If so, one wonders where they built. Probably a completely different Hyatt.

IIRC, it's the other way around.

The turbines have to push an electrical load to pass water. Or else something breaks or fries up.

It gets actually kinda concerning. 10k cfs translates into maybe 2 feet a day in lake elevation. That needs more calculators to inform or refine. Inflows remain about 10k cfs right?

Correct, without a sufficient electrical load they will overspeed and the turbine blades will stretch and twist and break or even explode from the rotational forces.

They dare not open the ms, assuming they could with no power, cause if all was even close to ok, the lake would be no greater than 850. The level the troubles began, just two years ago.

God-consciousness, as it is experienced by an evolving mortal of the realms, must consist of three varying factors, three differential levels of reality realization. There is first the mind consciousness—the comprehension of the idea of God. Then follows the soul consciousness—the realization of the ideal of God. Last, dawns the spirit consciousness—the realization of the spirit reality of God. By the unification of these factors of the divine realization, no matter how incomplete, the mortal personality at all times overspreads all conscious levels with a realization of the personality of God.

Yes, turbines need rotor excitation.
I'm a retired Turbine mechanic. The power input to the rotor is significant I might add.
I suspect they may be able to use power from one turbine output to energize the next, cascading down the line.

The Hyatt plant was not designed to control the lake level. The ms was designed for that purpose. Might be a good time to use it with maybe more snow melt cause of the wind and a current buffer maybe only 10 percent of the buffer that was insufficient just two years ago. But not using the ms. Nope, it appears workmen are on it.

Just two years ago the lake gained 50 feet in three days. Thank the lord that the weather is so stable across the country that crop plantings have not been so low at this date for a century or more.

Workmen.....for reasons unknown....on the main spillway (ms) just today. Do not get me started about the gates. The ms is, again for reasons we know not, not going to be used any time soon, outflows through the Hyatt maybe going down, and inflows maybe going up. Another Sunday just tomorrow.

Not sure what the hydro units might require....

250MW steam generators are like 22KV on the field or output windings. Don't recall what the rotors are rated.
