Lots of activity at the gully to the front left of the gates looking up hill. They have an excavator there at the edge of the roadway they just paved and a bunch of shovel-leaners with grim looks on their faces. Is leakage through the spillway area, increasing down in that gully....?

0.3 to 0.5 inches of precip in the Feather river watershed so far today, updated forecasts show 4-7 inches expected in the next 6 days!

In 2017 12.8" of rain made the lake go from 850 to 902 in 4 days.

That's 4' per inch of rain.

1 inch is absorbed by terrain, mostly. So let's say it rains 4 inches.

That's 3 inches of lake impacting rain, 12 feet. That puts the lake at 901.

If it rains 7 inches, 6 impacting the lake, that's 24 feet of lake rising. 12 feet of over flow.

It's down to the line. No more than 4 inches of rain.

Per my calculations, about 3 pages back from the Army Corp of Engineers data, the lake can NOT physically accept that much water UNLESS they open the Main Spillway.

This entire set of events lined up for the next 5 days is like watching a slow motion train wreck. If you have ever seen one of those happen you can usually see it coming for a full 30 seconds, sometimes a minute, before it happens, and you sit there glued to watching it knowing it is going to happen - and there is NOTHING anybody can do about it. Not you, not the train engineer, not anybody, AND THEN IT HAPPENS and stuff flies everywhere all at once.

It's calculated from lake height times surface area. It doesn't change until the lake height reading changes, then it jumps by .01ft*surface area at that height.

One acre is 43,560 cubic feet...i.e the amount of water needed to flood an acre to a depth of one foot.

At an inflow rate of more than 1000 CFS GREATER than the outflows, an acre foot is added in less than every 43.56 seconds.

To go over two hours at that net rate of inflow and claim NO ADDITIONAL ACRE FEET were added to the reservoir is just plain lazy and stupid.

beneath the main Oroville dam, there is something called the "thermolito diversion pool". From here, the water can go to 2 different places: the Feather River, and also to something called the "thermolito forebay." The thermolito forebay eventually gets released BACK into the Feather River. Just look at a map.

I am going to guess (and from what I have gathered from other posts) that the outflows are measured in TWO places:
ONE - water released from the diversion pool and into the Feather River
TWO - wather released from the forebay and into the Feather River

you add up One and Two and that is the TOTAL amount of outflows.

However I could be wrong

cruise

(SO, how full is the Diversion Pool and also the Forebay??!!)

A couple questions,

What did they do with all that asphalt?

In a video yesterday, I think it was 25 minutes, no voice just text.
I think it was at 17 minutes they showed 3 approximately 6'
diameter drains ending by the river at bottom of hill.....
In the process of being buried.

Where is the top end of those? Where are they going to drain from?
