Something is very wrong.

All of the cameras are down.

They simply cannot drain the lake fast enough.

Even though down a few feet from its highest elevation, the water is still a major threat to life down stream.

And now we are blind, too.

Would you please call the Sheriff's office?

Tell: All of the cameras are down. Potential dam failure. Potential evacuation situation. Can't tell with all cameras down.

Ask:

1) Do you have eyes on the ground at the dam?

2) If not, would you please post someone reliable at the dam?

DWR was crowing through local media how they were going to fill it up and that 900' was a safe elevation and good for recreation.

Now they are releasing as much as they can via Hyatt PP (which always seems to have a couple of turbines down for maintenance). Why? I thought they wanted a full reservoir through the summer. Not a peep from the media.

What happened to @wieryone who had a great vantage point and provided great photos of the work being done at the gate structure? Did he get a knock at the door?

I walked across the dam a week or so ago and only saw one boat on the lake. It is July and the lake should be full of skiers and fishermen. One boat.

Yes, something is very wrong.

My son is under Shasta Dam for a few days and I am beside myself with all the earthquakes and such. Nail biting. Whole country seems under high danger right now.

I don't know what the heck they are building on that buttress wall next to the main spillway on the top cam. They built a wooden deck with railings and now adding fence boards?

There really isn't any access to it.

The 7/12/2019 pic appears to show the right cone leaning to the left and the concrete walkway/curb area above the two cones appears to be declining r-l hile the road appears to be rising before the 'road gap'. ie is the area under the piece of plywood where the hole has increased sinking? I don't know where the other end of that thing is. It would have to be near the juncture of the gatehouse and the ES weir.

That area is certainly not accessible to the public. In fact, it isn't accessible to anyone. Maybe they planning to build stairs down from the gatehouse?

Right now, the guys working on it have to use that long ladder for access. And built out of wood? It has to be temporary, but for what?
