Funny how they deliberately and intentionally claimed that they wanted to fill that thing has high as they could, and now they seem to be lowering it as fast as they can using the HPP.

Yeah. I sent a question to the Butte County Sheriff a couple of days ago with the same concerns.

So far, no response.

I was somewhat informed thru family about the building of the huge 3 Gorges Dam long ago and there were concerns then and also huge amounts of testing.. I think more than one location was looked at as to EARTH QUAKE Risk.... I almost got to go to China during the construction... hubby was a dam engineer with the Bureau of Reclamation.. but we decided the kids weren't truly ready etc.

Meanwhile with all the other chaos in the world everyone forgets about this lingering behemoth in Oroville.

The dam only has to fail once to make it a big problem for everybody.

Hopefully they can draw the lake down and avoid future close-calls like we just had, however it will require a serious look at whether or not the dam is capable of what it was designed for.

It appears the entire hill structure is compromised. It would likely make sense to abandon the entire structure, drain it and rebuild the dam in a different location. I'm sure cost and politics will get in the way of that.

Yes. The stats are not as important as they were before Hyatt Power Plant got that 4th turbine running.

However, they still serve a purpose.

The Lake Oroville dam is still a threat to life downstream. It will continue to be as long as water pushes against the main earthen dam.

Yeah, I can look past religious differences easily. But I can not stand idle when she tries to convince people false science.
