Achilles Tendon bone spur
I know this is not a medical forum, but the diversity of opinion here makes it worthwhile.

I'm older, 50s. I always prided myself on being in shape. I used to do 3 mile runs with no problem 3-5 times a week.

Changed shoes once, and as soon as I did, got some achille pain. Took some time off, but every time I tried to run again, the pain would come back.

This is called Haglund's deformity. A little bone spur forms and then the tendon rubs against the spur, irritating the bursa sac of fluid. You get a little bump on the back of your heel that is painful to touch and is red. Every morning, your achilles tendon is stiff. You can stretch it out some, but it always hurts, especially in the mornings, especially after walking the day before, etc.

I wore a sleeping boot, that keeps things stretched. that helped some. less stiffness in the morning. I've tried supplements to change the calcium rate in the body to try to absorb the spur. I've tried apple cider vinegar.
I've tried the recommend exercises.

This thing never goes away completely, hurts after you spend a day walking. The surgery available is 1. cut open to the bone, detach your achilles, file off the spur, reattach and close it up...you're down for a year, maybe you can jog again, and often, the spur comes back if its due to your sride or bone structure. They don't recommend it.

I have lost my conditioning, I can't stair master or bike like I ran. Any insights into this problem? Thanks.

Apple cider vinegar, Turmeric, daily foot massages, and if you have an open mind, try out the Borax cure. I'm currently doing all (sans the foot massages) and It seems to be working for me.

Re: Achilles Tendon bone spur
My wife had to do the surgery on both legs. Doctors said it was possible she would not be able to walk in the future had she not done the surgery.

One Achilles at a time; wheelchair time in between. Crutches, protective boots ... mobility terrible. Worst at night going to the bathroom.

She drove with her left foot when the right one was in the protective boot.

Slow healing of the largest tendon in the body. Awkward times.
Especially when she tripped and ripped the work of one doctor. Rushed to hospital for repair and redo.

Best in Houston med center.

All said and done med bills for one leg (including follow-ups, meds, post op devices, etc.) many thousands $ (we had good insurance) Duration of both and healing approaching 3 years.

She can walk fast in good shoes, but still can't run or really hike.

Root cause was job related; picking an moving heavy components awkward shaped in her shop. Many times using her foot to leverage and start the lift.

Your body is too alkaline, stop drinking milk and drink more water with lemon.

Sorry for your wife's troubles. that is what I've learned...the surgery is only for people who can't walk.

I can walk OK, seem to have good range of motion, but the next day it will ache. It's a depressing situation.

Got them in both feet, keeping stretched out really helps. I have noticed since I changed from the softer soled shoes mine have been kept in check.
I always wore those inserts that are like silicone, stopped using those too. Of coarse every case is different.

DMSO

Part 1 - [link to www.youtube.com (secure)]
Part 2 - [link to www.youtube.com (secure)]
Part 3 - [link to www.youtube.com (secure)]

Precautions:
1- Be smart, cautious and informed.
2- Make sure your skin is DRY and clean (no chemicals/soap on your skin) as DMSO will bring that into your bloodstream as it penetrates the skin.
3- Get Pure DMSO(99.9%) in a mixture of 70%-90% DMSO to 30%-10% distilled water.
4- Test a small amount on your skin as some people develop a rash/burning sensation. Sensitive people. DMSO heats up as it is exposed to water in your skin/body. This is expected. For reasons unknown some people have more severe reactions than others.
5- Apply with your hands, not gloves as DMSO may break down the rubber in the gloves and bring that through your skin.
6- Even though DMSO is compatible with certain types of plastic ( [link to healyourselfathome.com] ), and the father of DMSO (The late Dr Jacob from the video) used plastic bottles, if you are on the cautious side, try buying it in Glass bottles, as DMSO is sure not to break down glass.
7- Although some DMSO is sold with rose scent... Rose scent is either a petroleum derived chemical, or derived from an essential oil. Neither of those would be recommended to inject into your blood stream.
8- Expect to smell like Oysters/Cabbage/Garlic while you take it and a few days after you stop taking it. So it depends on how bad your pain is.
9- After applying DMSO to the skin, it will be smelt on your breath a minute or so later. This is proof DMSO enters the bloodstream. After a while using it, you will no longer smell it, but others will.
10- Talk to your doctor before taking it. If you currently taking prescription medicine have a look at contraindications.

DMSO is used as a medicine for pain (interstitial cystitis): [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]

You can find DMSO at the usual places... amazon, ebay, your local health food store.

DMSO is theorized to have its curative properties because (1) DMSO can penetrate and pass through just about any cell of the body and (2) Water is attracted to DMSO more than water is attracted to water. Therefore as DMSO passes through the bodies cells, the water in the cell (along with say any impurities in the cell that is causing the cell to malfunction) is flushed away and the cell then replenishes it'self with new water, healing itself.

I am not a doctor and don't take this as advice. It is for informational purposes only. Be smart, cautious and informed.
