My questions are:

What happened to the molten fuel at Chernobyl? I think it eventually hardened and cooled into the elephants foot? Why? Why did the chain reaction stop?

Why are the fuel cores at the problem Fukushima reactors still raging COMPLETELY out of control? Is it because of the MOX fuel which contains plutonium?

Thank you

Chernobyl was handled immediately by brave men who gave their lives by pouring millions of pounds of cement to snuff it out by encasing the meltdown. Chernobyl was in Ukraine out in the middle of no where strategically located for tactical purposes and for safety reasons in the event of a meltdown. Add highly trained courageous men who knew what was at stake.

Fukushima was the perfect recipe of max fuel rods and MOX and the earthquake followed by the tsunami coupled with inadequate response protocols by men with no integrity or courage. Add the worst geographical location possible for a triple reactor meltdown and we have an extinction level event slowburn playing out over the next decade or 2
