That fat slob ruined that young man's life, without having any clear danger to himself. You can see that the exit wound was through his sacro-iliac area. That will cause trouble forever. Damned justice system is screwed up, too.
 Quoting: MarPep

As a child I had this image of the local police officers as being these valiant defenders of peace and willing to "take a bullet" for me.

This mindset was not isolated. Our perceptions of police have changed over the years. The police's perception of how to perform their job has also changed over the years. No longer are police willing to "put their life on the line." It has become "my life is more important than everyone around."

I don't want police to get shot and injured. Even less do I want police shooting unarmed and innocent citizens. If given a choice between an unarmed and innocent citizen being shot, or a police officer, it really should be the police officer. THEY signed up for the job. THEY know the risk. THEY are the ones supposedly sworn to "protect and defend."

The officer should have waited another moment. He shouldn't have arrived at the scene with offensive posturing. It was a freaking accident scene. How many accidents do these officers investigate on a daily basis? Is firearm violence against police officers at routine traffic stops statistically a problem?

Highly doubt it.
