A seven-layered bacon cheeseburger prepared by a member of the Qatari royal family has become perhaps the most expensive ever sold.
The mammoth meal commanded the huge asking price because Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, a member of Qatar's royal family, helped out with the cooking.
Top chef and culinary director at Dubai's Le Gourmet Russell Impiazzi prepared the burger alongside the Sheikh.
For the huge price tag the buyer got seven beef patties, one to represent each of the emirates, topped with aged cheddar cheese and
veal bacon strips served in a saffron brioche bun.
Asma Al Fahim, founder of Dubai lifestyle magazine Villa 88, phoned in the winning £8,000 bid
While it may seem like the ultimate extravagance, all the money went to a good cause. The proceeds went to breast cancer charity Pink Caravan, which raises awareness of the disease.
