Cheaters seldom are readily willing to let go of the relationship that was supposed to be monogamous when caught. They recognize the value of a monogamous relationship, they just don't have the self-control to hold to the commitment that forms the foundation of it.

It's not biology or instinct, it's a simple matter of people who lack self-control.

Humans are in fact animals thriving on their instincts. Until they thought they became civilised. So they invented a 'god' and a 'law'. To keep humanity away from chaos. When everyone was still fucking each other because they felt like it, some idiot invented a kind of marriage law. And so, all the sheep got married. Because God and the law said so. Later (when they thought they were more civilised) humans invented more rules, especially economical or financial, to keep humans getting married. So, all the humans learned the rules and their neighbours and relatives married too, so it couldn't be anything else than normal.

A simple zoological review of why many (most) mammals have multiple mates will show that male mammals have an instinctual "need" to mate with as many females as possible in hopes that he impregnates one or more of them (so the species can live on).

In theory, you could equate this to why a tomato plant forms hundreds of seeds inside each and every fruit, yet you only need one seed to germinate for the species to survive.

It's because some seeds will be defective... others won't land on soil... other's won't get the proper moisture to germinate... even others will germinate but be eaten during seedling stage by animals or birds.

Back to the mammals, male mammals look for many mates to ensure species survival.

Homo-sapien males have those same instinctual urges, however, their natural need to sleep with many different females is vilified in modern society.

Female mammals, by contrast, tend to want to ONLY mate with the strongest males, to increase the chances of strong, healthy offspring.

In modern society, females subconsciously act on those instincts. This is likely the reason for the stereotype of "Girls always go for assholes/badboys". It's because those types read as Alphas to the female subconscious, and in turn, they can't help themselves.

The rational part of their brain tends to take over AFTER pregnancy...when they search out some nice guy cuck to offer her security and/or pay for said badboy's spawn (because he sure as fuck isn't dumb enough to stick around with a woman stupid enough to get pregnant by him) [/sarcasm].

The social constructs of "partners for life", monogamous marriage, and monogamy in general are simply relics of a bygone era where religion and fear were used to control the masses.
