OP: You don't know what you're talking about. The Stonewall Inn [the correct name] was -and still is- a cramped little drag bar. The police raided it due to noise complaints from the rowdty shows they put on. The raids were actuially orchestrated by mean-assed NYPD Captain who had a bristling hair up his ass about Gay people. The confrontations did NOT just happen on one single night, but the NYPD harrassment actually went on for over a full week.

As for the "riots"? On June 28th, the patrons finally had enough; the action actually consisted of a bunch of drag queens wrenching an already-broken parking meter from its post but they couldn't break it open, so they grabbed all the pennies from the bar's cash registers and started throwing them at the cops. Soon, spare change of all kind was flying aroud.

Gay history is filled with enough wild lies without having a joke like you add to them. And: just because you see something in the movies dcoesn't make it true!! I've spoken to people who were actually at the Stonewall Inn and their true story differs greatly from mythology.
