Don't cut down on salt.

Cut down on sugar and all other forms of carbs.

That is the answer.

Do it (and lose the HBP) or don't (and keep the HBP).

Take 400mg of magnesium, and also potassium. Does a great job lowering blood pressure and also will help take away any heart flutter / muscle spasms you might have.

Good Luck!

L-arginine supplements have the same ingredient as beets.
Coenzyme 10
Walk 2 miles everyday.
These 3 things will do it.
For immediate help, take a low dose baby aspirin.

So I just took my blood pressure and it's at 169/96 (hypertension stage 2 / hypertension stage 1)

I've ordered some CoQ10 and garlic extract supplements..as they are both supposedly good for cardiovascular health and getting down blood pressure, from what I've read online.

Besides cutting down on salt and cutting out caffeine (which I have started) what does GLP recommend? I would rather get this under control myself than be prescribed to a medication for the rest of my life.

LOSE WEIGHT! When I weigh more than 227, my BP goes to 150/95

As long as I weigh less than 227, my BP remains at 120/80.

It's like a switch inside my body gets triggered when my weight exceeds 227.

I've had hypertension for 32 years and your supplements are great. Rather than CoQ10, look for Ubiquinol. It is the reduced form of Co Q10 is absorbed much easier than Co Q10 by itself.

Also, look into Resperate! It trains you to breathe properly and lower your blood pressure naturally.

Best wishes

Re: High Blood Pressure - Need Advice..natural remedies?
1. Fasting lowers blood pressure. Do a 5 day or 10 day fast.
2. Blood-letting, an ancient practice, is probably the quickest and most effective way to lower blood pressure in the short-term but you have to be extremely careful & very sanitary when doing this.
3. Exercise, especially do some cardio for at least 30 minutes every day.
4. Don't eat so much red meat, eggs, or grains.
Try going vegan for a month or so.
5. Sleep well. Make sure you're getting enough sleep.
6. Check your spine health. Spines that are out of alignment can effect blood pressure.

Potassium naturally reduces BP. You can also take arginine and citrilline which expand the blood vessels reducing pressure. Also take nattokinase...a Japanese supplement used to treat high blood pressure. I take lisinopril and htz and it brings my no down all day from 150+ to 130. Lower if I throw in potassium.

Oh I forgot to mention...

Donate blood!
Find a blood bank and donate 2 pints of blood.
The less blood in your circulatory system, the less blood pressure.

Donating blood every year dramatically lowers your risk for heart attack & stroke, FYI.

You're starting off good with the CoQ10 and the Garlic - I was at around the same blood pressure as you - still young with family history of high BP. I took the CoQ10 and garlic also added Omega 3's, calcium and drank beet juice. Started off every day with some lemon water, then had some oatmeal with almond milk. Lost 10lbs in a month cutting out crap (sugar and fried goo) and by starting the day right and going for de-stressing walks, not worrying about how far I walked, just to unwind and enjoy, but I was exercising without feeling like it. A month later -- 120/80!

Good luck! hf Just make your new routine fun and try not to stress.

Re: High Blood Pressure - Need Advice..natural remedies?
you should go to a site called "LIFESPA.COM"
this is an ayurvedic site dealing with stuff used for centuries.

they may not have anything for high blood pressure, but it's a good site to look into anyway.

this is not related to your blood pressure problem but for years I had cravings for sweets/carbs.

found thru this site an herb called 'gymnema' that actually cuts cravings for sweets!!

anyway, it's an interesting life philosophy of eating habits, eating foods IN SEASON.....ETC.

so look anyway to see if they have anything dealing with HBP!!

another one, and again may not have HBP help, is
...BANYAN BOTANICALS.

if nothing else, these will get you to thinking about your overall health.

good luck.........I know you can overcome this with BIG PHARMA'S CRAP!!!!!!!

I am absolutely against allopathic medicine, but that blood pressure is excessively high. I would go to the doctor and get meds immediately... and THEN work on homeopathic remedies. I found the keto diet (with or without weight loss) to be very useful - above everything else.
