Scientists are going to solve the lack of pollination because of Bee extinction with Drones and Monsanto. Seriously ? One of those tools is being crafted at Monsanto, the St. Louis-based agro-business giant. The company has been developing a technique called RNA interference, or RNAi, which could potentially kill the troublesome parasites by disabling their genes. Already various genetically engineered crops use RNAi to silence genes in the crops themselves. In this case, Monsanto would put synthetic RNA into sugar water fed to the honeybees. Since it's directed at a genetic sequence, it would be harmless to the bees — but lethal to the mite. The solution would attack certain proteins designed to help the mite breathe, eat, and reproduce. VanEngelsdorp, who serves on the team's advisory board, is hopeful about the technology. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74418056 [link to www.nbcnews.com] I believe the mite is Monsatan. |

There are more honey bees now than ever before in North America. Honey bees ARE NOT native to north America. They're an invasive species brought by European colonists hundreds of years ago. Lol how did the continent survive since the last ice age with out honey bees to pollinate? Lolol Honey bees are responsible for at most, 15% of all pollination. Bumble bees for even less than that. |

Except this time there isnt a thesis to begin with. I think this bees going extinct stuff is myth. Goes to show a lie when often believed can elicit the same response. In this case for Monsanto to step in. Its the same with the global warming bs and the carbon tax. This isn't hegelian dialectic just plain deception. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74418056 [link to www.nbcnews.com] Rest assured that the taxpayer will be billed billions for this shit! First, they use government research dollars to create nicotinoids to kill other insects, which also kills bees. THEN they'll get research dollars to kill a mite that really isn't responsible for bee population decline. But blaming it on the mites creates yet another multi-billion dollar opportunity for these poison pushing blood suckers. |

Seriously ? monsanto is a tool of various groups, and the fact its been used as vehicle for so much criminality against the human race to enrich the military industrial establishment, must of escaped the big heart of global philanthropists like Bill gates, probably not, More like insider trading payoff for enabling Microsoft as metadata and direct surveillance tool by the nsa etc , and more specifically the CIA, and i wonder how many of their senior ops and management had or have shares in it as well. Still when crimes against humanity are tallied one day monsanto and agent orange and all its spinoffs like round up, and its gene-tech division, will no doubt feature prominently high up the list of wickedness for power and profit. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74392481 i see a share holder, or are you an employee. monsatan is directly responsible for the suicide deaths of 10,000 plus indian farmers every year, and that is just one of their immoral actions, in other countries like Australia and Canada, if monsatan crops infect your purestock genetics, and you sell your crop, you get sued and pay for stealing from them. Just another ongoing example. You are correct that european settlers brought honeybees over to help pollinate their crops and for honey. However, the population was incredibly lower than it is now. Without bee pollination, crop yield would drop off enough to cause quite a large crisis considering the population of the united states. For example, yes we would still have blueberries, but not enough to meet demand, and the price would skyrocket. same for many other crops dependent on bee pollination. |
