I've seen that before, numerous times. I don't actually know what causes it, but I've noticed it more than a handful of times, easily.

I dunno, I only ever thought it was cool looking...heh, never thought to say "WTF" about it, though.

Ok, show me a moon phase calendar that shows the bottom of the moon lit up? No. That is not normal. Yes it is the bottom that is crescent.

I live in a remote part of the country where there is no artificial light for miles when we turn our lights out.

We see this every clear night with a visible moon

How would a moon phase calendar know where and when you are observing the moon? THAT is what causes the apparent angle.

I'm in the Delmarva area and I noticed it as I walked to the store yesterday night. I made a comment to my friend about how crazy it looked. It had that weird glow to it... strange yet familiar, like a high school football stadium on Friday nights long after the crowd has gone home.

Moon phase calendars do not account for field rotation, nor can they since it depends on your location and when you are looking. It's normal though.

Why pin this? It's earth shine. Even as a Venus tard I know this is normal. Depending on the conditions sometimes the moons outline can really pop!

Moontards pay so little attention to the sky that they are even ignorant of earthshine and they claim it's a new phenomenon. Higher Truth Channel was the first one I saw to claim this, but he has many followers in his cult and he's not the only one that stupid.
