First 90 Kangaroos released in Wyoming
[link to county10.com]

Dubbed “Project Sage Hopper” by the WWGD team responsible for evaluating the viability of Wyoming’s habitat for Australian marsupials, it has been in the planning stages for 3 years. The goal is two-fold: Create new and interesting wildlife viewing opportunities for tourists, and in several years, potentially provide additional hunting opportunities.

With a successful introduction of kangaroos into Wyoming’s ecosystem, WMI will review other opportunities for the state to be home to other marsupial species. A short-list for future proposed introductions include the koala, wallaby and the endangered Tasmanian Devil.

I'm not sure how I feel about our native animals being introduced in a new country. Hope it doesn't turn bad like our cane toads!

Phantom Kangaroos in North America

[link to exemplore.com (secure)]
They’ve been dubbed Phantom or Errant Kangaroos, and these elusive marsupials have been documented around the United States for over a hundred years. What’s going on with these out-of-place animals, and can the sightings really be believed?

Maybe someone already did it years ago lol

Pigs were brought to Texas to be hunted -- then they escaped the hunting grounds and now they are a PEST that's out of control ...

the same things will happen with these Kangaroos ...

We have freezing cold Winters here too so it would be perfect for them :)

The first known claim of the Phantom Kangaroo took place in Wisconsin in 1899. Since then, sightings have been reported from Coon Rapids, Minnesota to Chicago, Illinois. In 1980, a kangaroo was reported near San Francisco, California’s Golden Gate Bridge. In 1981, kangaroos were reported in North Carolina, and even resulted in an unsuccessful police chase. In a more recent account, a kangaroo was spotted hopping along U.S. 90 in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

I know of at least one petting zoo there in the States that have kangaroos, I wonder if at some stage there has been an escape? There is a photo in this link in Wisconsin in 1978 which clearly looks like a marsupial of the kangaroo/wallaby variety.
