I never get to enjoy silence
When I'm at home alone, I want to enjoy some silence but I never get any. there are always cars speeding around the neighborhood with loud engines, planes flying overhead, literally 24/7. It didn't used to be this way. I'm forced to put on my sound proof headphones if I want at least 10 minutes of silence. Is it like that everywhere?
I know it sounds stupid but It drives me insane. I wish I lived in the mountains.

Living in town with all the noise is hard for me too OP. I like just being around nature. After living in the city for 5+ years it was great when I was finally able to live rurally.
Maybe reconsider moving rurally if that is an option for you.

Try putting a fan in the corner of the room.

Pointed at the wall

Takes a bit to get used to the white noise

It helps a ton though

We have a train that goes through 6 times every 24hrs and we do not hear it because of the fan.

Suburbia is fairly quiet, but the country is not, at least in Ohio. Summer on the farm is noisy with all the birds and bugs making noise all day. The nighttime is even worse with all the tree frogs, whiporwills, crickets and the other bugs. And one night every spring when the frogs have their big mating orgy at the pond it is deafening.

A winter night is quiet though.

Same here. People are always jumping in and out of their cars and always have to slam every door. I think that people were more polite around 2005-2010.

I live right DT Vancouver bc and it's not just silence that's unheard of its the shear amount of ugly people around here and I don't just mean run of the mill uglies where talking extremely hideous ugly,piles of dog crap on the sidewalk are better looking than some of the mugs people have in this shitty city..no silence and overwhelming amount of uglies makes for a shitty existence here.
