Need Help with brand new pistol, Slide Stuck!!!

sounds like your at a low point with the high point.

Lol, there is a button that releases the slide. Most of the time you need to pull slide back just a tad more while pushing the button.

a little squirt of b2 hotdog sauce will free it up

Where is the button??

Picked it up a few weeks ago as a Christmas Gift for my wife, out of the box the slide could not be pulled far enough back to engage the hold open lever after several more attempts I was able to get the lever engaged but when it was released the slide was stuck open would not close It does this with the mag in or out have tried 3 other mags all Hi Pont Factory Mags brand new. When I do this I have no bullets in the mag gut don't think this matter.

He ended up having to take it apart and said some springs were mangled.

One good thing about Hi-Point is their customer service. Send it back and they will fix it for free. They will charge shipping, but compensate you with a new mag to cover it.

Push the slide forward with your thumb as hard as you can and pull the trigger

Im pretty sure the mag on a hipoint has a slide catch on the magazine. Unfortunatly i think you need to put a round in and try it then. If that dont work immediatly remove round so to stay safe.

Or you could drop it from a 20' ladder

There is a pin behind that red dot to removed the slide. Make sure that is centered.

Just tried with a round in mag, also w empty mag and no mag, mag all in, partly in, etc.

Nothing.

Didn't check at the ffl because, as I told the clerk, if there are any problems, HP is know for their good warranty.

If you tie a 3 foot rope to the grip it makes a great club when you swing it around.

Appears that it is ok, not sticking out.

A1 on the rails. Great lubricant.

They're guaranteed for life. Butt ugly but if I see a broken one at a show I pick them up. Fun to shoot, especially the carbines.

Try pushing straight down hard toward the front of the slide and push forward and pull the trigger (EMPTY)

Pop that take down pin and try to take slide off. Inspect all internals.

This will be my 1st ever stripping of a semi auto, never done it before... Not sure I want to.

You are supposed to lube them liberally with A1.

I haven't sent it back, took it apart and found what another poster said, the springs on the firing pin were kinda twisted, the lever for the LRHO would not move and had a lot of metal shavings in the back of the slide, a little cleaning and some lube and it feels O/K now. Will go and shoot after Christmas.


I think I will have to send it to HP. This just isn't right and I want all the internals to be in excellent condition.

No worries you can do it! I think the Hi=point has a fixed barrell don't know but pop that retainer pin out and slide shud pull off. Plenty of You tube videos out there to help
