At this point peace can't be had with him in power and even Russia has said multiple times Assad staying in power is not must have for them. Which means something else is more important to them. Twou things actually, Tartus and the pipeline I want straight answers, not what you think I would like or not, in fact, your reply makes some sense. That's the short version of whats going down, without getting into China, Iran, Israel, US, Saudi et al. Ideally I'd like to syria split up between stable countries. Maybe even give Assad his little chunk and continue to call it Syria if ppl vote for him.
