Anonymous Coward User ID: 69969897 ![]() 04/11/2017 10:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What are the chances that NK takes out the entire battle group with a salvo of nuke-tipped medium-range ballistic missiles. or the chance also that a NK sub could be armed with a nuke torpedo and destroy the battle group that way? Quoting: Janes addict 73357577 Serious. Any thoughts? Highly doubt all the ships would be that close to one another... Nuclear torpedo is a lot harder to make than a missile- highly doubt they have any unless Russia or China gave them some... There is a chance North Korea has some pretty decent Chinese or Russian weapons hidden away for stuff like this... If we lost a couple carrier battle groups to anti ship missiles I think the US military would be forever devastated moral wise. Biggest threat I think is China and Russia deciding enough is enough and standing up with Kim. |

Quoting: Janes addict 73357577 Serious. Any thoughts? Any actions Kim takes is suicide, and he knows it. Proud to be deplorable The only constant is change The winds of anger, blows out the candle of intelligence "Slowly, like moisture entering the dying tree trunk, slowly filling and rotting it, so did the world and inertia creep into his soul; it slowly filled his soul, made it heavy, made it tired, sent it to sleep" "One must find the source within one's own Self, one must possess it" |

Quoting: Wake Up 69969897 purposely 60% underrated I was told- not sure if that is accurate or not- Could be there any moment based on that... This is true. I had a friend who was stationed on the Vinson. It can cruise at about 70 knots fully loaded and on a calm sea. |

nd5ip3pomu User ID: 73878978 ![]() 04/11/2017 11:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Carl Vinson left Singapore 2 days ago, It travels at 35 NMPH (nautical miles per hour) with about 4000 miles, which puts the carrier in Korean waters in 111 hours. well the clock ticks on North Korea as 52 hours has passed since USS Carl Vinson got the call to duty. Quoting: ARMADA 74188675 Will Kim attack before the ship gets close? Will China hit NKs nuclear facilities in a show of de escalation between to mega powers? will Trump attack Kimmy if he is not disarmed by the time Vinson arrives?? The time has Never been primed like it is RIGHT NOW!! WITH failing markets and collapsing currency wreaking havoc across the globe, there is only one way out of this and thats a fight! Truthfully, I would be scared if I was on that damn thing. Why do people think Kim is such a lightweight? :| Last Edited by Up5ideDown on 04/11/2017 11:29 PM |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 71031330 ![]() 04/12/2017 12:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It does not matter how fast the Vinson can go. It will travel with with the group. Cruisers, destroyers and support/supply ships. None will exceed approximately 20 knots, maybe 25, probably 15 or so. The carrier is vulnerable without air defence supplied by the cg or dd's. The faster it travels, the more vulnerable it becomes. It will not show up alone without support. These battle group assets also supply additional anti sub defence, they clear the forward moving task force, search the flanks and protect the rear. As I recall NK has a shit load of old, but somewhat quiet diesel subs. Doubt one carrier task force will engage unless the task is simple. Knock out the nuke sites and HAVE the ability to wipe C2, command and control. Otherwise this is simply the threat of power projection. A warning, albiet a serious one. Keep in mind the US does have the ability gather existing support forces in Japan, Gaum, Pearl, even B1 AND B2, stealth from Conus. I will not be surprised if behind the scenes deals are being cut. Imagine this, NK is told to sacrifice their nuke program by China. More on this later. One major hit, NK takes the hit and hibernates for several years. No relaliation, no regime loss, Kim gets to remain in power. Everyone "wins". Trump is a winner. The longer game is now in play. If anything like this transpires expect retribution down the road. If deals have not been cut, expect WW3 now. Trump clearly telegraphed the deal by making the statement about "trade deals" with China. Remember one simple fact. ALL wars are about money. |
