Many lose their soul for only a few pennies or for a few moments of pleasure

"What does it profit a man gain if he gain the whole world and loses his soul? our Lord asked rhetorically. Yet, many trade their soul for far less than the whole world -- many lose their soul for only a few pennies or for a few moments of pleasure!

Esau amazingly exchanged his soul for a mere bowl of stew, Judas astonishingly traded his soul for only thirty pieces of silver, and in Ezekiel's day men actually exchanged their souls for loaves of barley and pieces of bread (Ez. 13:19). If it's a raw deal to lose our soul to gain the WHOLE WORLD, how supremely foolish are we to lose it for the fleeting pleasures of sin?
