Privatized prisons should be illegal, I'm with you there.

But I think there are a lot of things to take into account when you look at our prison rate.

First I have heard that 30% of all inmates are illegal aliens.

Second if other countries aren't locking their criminal population up and we are, does that make us worse than them? I agree that we shouldn't be locking people up on simple drug possession charges.

But Mexico has like 10 times the murder rate of the US, and a what, 30% conviction rate? Less? They've got people committing crimes with impunity there, out on the street with no threat of conviction or prison, does that make Mexico better than the United States?

Plus some other countries do things to criminals that aren't technically called "prison". Doesn't China exile people to remote provinces to work on labor farms? I suppose that's not technically prison.

Also some countries execute prisoners, those people aren't in jail either, they're dead.

But when you have extremely violent countries like Brazil, and you use that in your comparison to make the US look bad for actually having a functioning law enforcement, court and corrections system, that doesn't really make a point, I want a bigger analysis than just per capita inmate population.

Additionally, American business must buy industrial insurance from the state, they have to buy health insurance and pay into pension funds and IRAs, they must pay minimum wages which are around 4 times the amount per hour than foreign workers get per day, they have to contribute about 7% of the worker's wages to Social Security.

If goods are manufactured here, these requirements are part of the cost of the product. How many Americans are prepared to pay that much more for clothing, household goods, electronics, etc?

Once Trump starts slashing regulation and making it more possible to manufacture here, the same shrill shills will be here bitching because Trump is being so crummy to the worker.

Even the shills benefit greatly from clothing, electronics, sheets, towels, underwear, books, and furniture that is manufactured overseas in low wage countries.
